Third And Gold: Story Behind Rg3's Name Is As Good As His Game

Great read, A SuperStar in the making

http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2012/story/_/id/7820629/robert-griffin-iii-more-just-name-baylor-heisman-winner-espn-magazine

When he accepted the trophy, he got to read the speech out loud in those Superman socks. But RG2 had researched Heisman flops (see Andre Ware, Gino Torretta, Eric Crouch, Danny Wuerffel) and decided many had gotten fat and happy. So hours later, RG2 and RG3 were working out at the hotel fitness center at 2 a.m. "I told him, '10 years down the road, you're the Heisman Trophy winner,'" RG2 explains. "'But right now you can't act like that. You've got to act the way you acted before you won the award.'"

After the season, RG3 spent five weeks training in Phoenix, taking only one day off each week. Then at the combine he ran a 4.41 40 and showed off his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles socks afterward. Scouts were trying to compare him to Cam Newton and The Golden Calf of Bristol, but RG3 says, "People would say I'm more polished as a passer than The Golden Calf of Bristol and Cam, but I'm not as physical a runner. But I am 6'2", 223, and I can throw with the best of them."

Lets wait until he plays a down in the NFL before we crown him a superstar in the making. Unless you want to give Cam the title because of what he has already done..... Weren't you one of the negative posters about Newton, Grits???? Funny how you changed your tune when it isn't about the Panthers.

really i just read everything he posts about griffin with the assumption that he's doing it intentionally to piss people off. of course it's a glaring contradiction.

also i swear to god i saw him post on one of his six hundred alt accounts about how he absolutely did not want griffin in a redskins uniform a while back. he claimed that he didn't fit shanahan's system.

Cam won six games. I want RG3 to do much better, like my boy Andy Dalton.

Actually i wanted Luck. But when i realized that was out of the question i warmed to the idea of drafting RG3.

  • 2 weeks later...

George Lucas has threathened a lawsuit if the NFL, Redskins and RGIII don't stop using RGIII.

He says that RGIII is too close to CP3O and that it's copywrite infringement!

It is Larry Brown or Phill Jackson that copywrited "Three-Peat"? If someone uses that phrase, they are open to a lawsuit!

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
