Steve Smith, Best Player In Nfl

1. NFL.com doesn't show targets.

2. Could argue Calvin gets thrown to more because he is open more as a result of being better.

1. NFL.com and stats in general dont show alot of things so stop making it part of your argument

2. Could counter that with Calvins QB has better downfield vision.

face it , your stats are crap and truly are for losers.

  1. Steve Smith 11 seasons
    Receptions 699
    Yards 10278
    Avg 14.7

    Larry Fitzgerald 8 seasons
    Receptions 693
    Yard 9615
    avg 13.9

    Wes Welker 9 seasons
    Recpetions 658
    Yards 7226
    AVG 11.1

    Calvin Johnson 5 seasons
    Receptions 366
    Yards 5872
    Avg 16

    Vincent Jackson 7 seasons
    Receptions 272
    Yards 4754
    AVG 17.5

    Roddy White 7 seasons
    Receptions 530
    Yards 7374
    AVG 13.9

Now take into consideration that all of these WR's except Steve has had pro bowl QB's. Also take into consideration that steve was drafted as a return man and did not become a true reciever until his third season. Also he missed the entire 2004 season do to a broken leg in the opening game against Green Bay.

Not taking anything away from Calvin, but he was also for his entire career in a pass happy offensive system.

Now this list does not contain Victor cruz since its only his second season and Im sorry the same for Green and the kid the falcons drafted.

So for the most part, Steves numbers have come from 9 seasons 8 if you want to subtract the 2010 season where there was no real QB to speak of.

I would put him at leas t#2 to #3 in the NFL

You are excluding TDs which is a huge part of what Calvin and Fits bring to the table.

Fitz played 4 seasons with Warner as the starter for the majority of the season. The other four he played with Kolb, John Skelton, Derek Anderson, Matt Leinhart, and Josh McCown.

Calvin had Kitna for 2007, Dan Orlovsky for most of 08, Shawn Hill in 2010, and Stafford his 09 and last season.

Both spent at least half their careers without pro bowlers and still dominated. And again nobody is comparing their careers. The past seasons they have played much better than Smith. If you want to throw out the stats because Smith had to play with the likes of Clausen that's fine but nobody has given a reason Smith is better besides "he is smaller and still plays great" and "he is a Panther so he must be the greatest!!!!"

Smith also played with pro-bowl qb's in 2005 and last year. That's as many years (I think) as Larry Fitzgerald had with a pro-bowler.

Larry Fitz only jas played 1 season with a pro bowler. Same with Andre....both those WRs were also Pro Bowl WRs while playing with garbage QBs who have never done poo in their QB careers

Check out what Smitty has done with QBs like Clausen and Carr......and compare to what Andre Johnson and Fitzgerald with David Carr type QBs.

CRA.. You need to get your facts correct. Kurt Warner played for the Cardinals for 5 seasons not 1. thats leaves only 2 seasons that Fitz played with a so so QB.

Smitty player his entire career with only so so QB's putting up huge numbers in an offense that was not even WR friendly. Under Fox he played a smashnouth offense running the ball more than passing it. Smitty has on had two QB's reach the pro bowl. one was jake in i think 2005 and Cam last year. Jake has played with the likes of Jake delhomme (Game manager) Rodney Pete (*in the down turn of his career) Jimmy Clausen and Matt Moore un proven back up QB's

Now I know everyone will have their favorite players mine happens to be Smitty. His passion and love for this game is what has driven him to be on e the best WR's in the NFL. Before smitty, no NFL team would even consider signing or drafting a 5'10' WR. He is not the prototypicle WR of 6'2" - 6'5". No look at all the under 6' WR's in the league who are having great career's.

I have watch and I have still recorded on my computer every single game for the last 10 years of the Pannthers. I have watch Smitty make the best CB's look like high school players. I have watched them get so angry the get ejected from the game or get multiple flags thrown on them due to hold or PI calls because they can not contain him. This is why even teams with the best CB's, still doulbe team him with a safety. one or a lot of times even 2 defenders will not stop smitty.

Oh and Andre Johnson played only 4 seasons with Carr as his QB the other 5 has been with Schaub.

You need to apply consistant logic.

I was using the same criteria being applied for Smitty and his QBs. Kurt Warner was only a pro bowler 1 yr in AZ. He wasn't a stud those other years....he was benched for Matt Lienart for crying out loud.

Jake Delhomme played here for 7 years. He made the Pro Bowl. Jake pre Tommy John was NOT a game manager. He was a good QB. He was a gunslinger who played in a running offense. Jake accomplished things in his pre tommy john career most guys can only dream of.

And again Andre has played one season with a pro bowl QB.

Delhomme in his prime wasn't a David Carr bum. Smitty has never performed well with a bum at QB.

Larry and Andre have. That should be noted
