here's a bone for everyone's help in this thread. a couple of my secrets for big cats:

BIG bait. the bigger the better. you can fit 2 hands inside a 20 lb catfish's mouth. big bait eliminates smaller catfish too. occasionally you'll hook a 4 lb catfish in the face because it won't leave your big ass shad head alone

Understood. I can fit 12 noodles into a 5 gallon bucket. You can still fish with the rod and monitor the noodles. We do that when we troll for rock, fly fish, or fish for bass.

i'm definitely a bank fisher. the only reason i need a boat is to get to bank spots nobody else gets to.

i don't mind fishing a pontoon, but i get stir crazy, especially with more than 3 people aboard

Not really sure that I would do a bait caster, but to each his own.

I fished them growing up, and it's not something that's real easy to do. Especially if you are on a boat, or are fishing at night.

Not impossible, but I would rather be thinking of other things.

Did you look at the Abu Garcia Pro Rocket or Carpmaster line? That's the way to go if your serious.
