Just not a believer in the whole ghost thing at all. Just my personal viewpoint. People see and hear what people want to see and hear. Paranormal yes, ghosts and such....not so much.

Seeing is believing. And the last thing I want to hear is poo that creeps me out.

Could have been a woodpecker. Is there a tree near the door, or do you have any wood siding on your house? We had one that would fly in in the middle of the night and know on the door frame. I lost track of the number of times I got up to answer the door an no one being there. I finally was up late one night and saw it fly in right before the knocking happened.

Good call. House has vinyl siding now but the back porch is screened in with a wooden frame door. Just went and looked and there's not any damage consistent with that of a wood pecker. Could have been though.

I think Gin and Juice hit the nail. I have bugs that fly into my back door, big bugs, and sounds just like someone tapping on the window.

The wife is fine tuned with those on the "other side". She has seen and heard a lot since we have been living here. My only experience with it was about 2 months ago. I was outside with the dog standing on the back patio. I heard a tapping noise on the glass which I thought was coming from the laundry room but when I looked the wife wasn't there. About 15 seconds later I heard it again and looked towards to the French doors in the living room. The wife ( or so I thought) had her finger in the blinds, pulling them down to peer out. I thought she needed something so we headed back inside.

As I walk in hollering what is it she needs she comes walking down stairs from checking on the chaps. She's looking at me funny and I walk into the living room to see if the blinds were simply stuck. They were not.

The dog is constantly staring into the corners of the ceiling in the living room, occasionally letting out a single bark. The most disturbing thing happened last week.

Woke up to get one of my boys ready for school, go downstairs and one of the French doors in the living room was open, about 10 inches. It was the door that could not be opened without opening the other first. Both are locked at all times as we do not use them for access.

I can't explain that. I don't know how the fuging door got open but I was extremely uneasy. The dog was laying in the kitchen back the back door as he usually is when I awake in the mornings. The misses thinks the spirits are trying to tell us it's time to go.

This wasn't a bug smacking a window. It was a distinct 4 ring knock.

Wood peckers get on our house all the time.. they seem to like it about 7AM the best... I guess they can't figure out vinyl siding doesn't hold bugs...

Yep. That "because you were home" line is killer. Also, this movie was the first time I'd heard that song "Mama Tried." Never gonna look at that song the same way. My friends in college would play it and it always weirded me out.

CoW, this is very interesting. Do you know anything about the people who lived there before you/people who died at your house?

All I know is an elderly woman passed in the house. That was confirmed by her daughter. Other than her I have no idea. But with a house as old as this one I wouldn't be shocked if there were others also.
