2012 NHL Offseason/Free Agency

Just don't give up any good players please! We can't improve if we gain talent from elsewhere only to give up talent we already have.

Couple of wingers and a prospect or two is what it will take to accomplish that trade.

They'd have to give up a couple of good prospects in Murphy and Dalpe or something similar. I think Murphy would be the focal point on what was going back.

Probably end up being the 2013 first rounder, Murphy, Dalpe, McBain and one of the top wingers on the team to get Nash.

We are not 12 hours into FA. FA started at noon. For up to date Canes FA info check out https://mobile.twitter.com/#!/ice_chip. He will have most up to date. Canes have made offers to Parise and Suter. Waiting on word. Dont want to get my hopes up but Rutherford said neither camp said no and is considering. Rutherford said that if Parise does not come to Canes they are going hard after Nash. Apparently there is currently an offer on the table for Nash but will up it if lose out on Parise.

corvo is a nice signing for us but were so deep on the blueline with a bunch of young guys ready to make the jump... including murphy i believe

It's in case that they have to go after Nash, if so Murphy is part of that trade to get him. Corvo is still a nice signing though, he can help out defensively since they've already shipped out the 2nd rated D prospect in the Canes system and the other prospects are a bit ways away.

Also expect a trade Blue line wise if they land Suter.

Edit, I'm just going to stop following this mess. Way too much mis information in the media right now.

Hurricanes are out on all three fronts though, at least that's what it seems.

24 million up front in signing bonuses that the Canes can't afford on top of 100 million over 10 years is what put them out of the running.

JR said the Canes are out of the Parise sweepstakes because they would not include a huge bonus.

They expect an answer from Suter by Monday

Finally, they are still in the running to acquire Nash from Columbus but unfortunately we aren't on Nash's short list of teams so it is unlikely that he would re-sign with us anyway.

To recap today, we signed Joe Corvo, re-signed Jordan Staal, re-signed Brett Sutter, and re-signed Justin Peters.
