Bobcats Search For A Power Forward To Fill Out Roster (Scola a Sun, Jamison a Laker, Humphries a Net)

Recommended Posts

Rick Bonnell

The Bobcats are waiting for answers from free-agent power forwards Kris Humphries and Antawn Jamison. If neither of those possibilities works out, Carl Landry could be an option to fill the Bobcats’ last inside roster spot. A 6-9 power forward, Landry was productive when healthy for the New Orleans Hornets last season, averaging 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 50 percent shooting from the field. The problem has been injuries: He’s missed at least 25 games each of the past three seasons (one with the Sacramento Kings, the last two with the Hornets).

According to Bonnell, the Cats are working through this list

1. Antawn Jamison (Los Angeles Lakers)

2. Carl Landry

3. Kris Humphries (Brooklyn Nets)

4. Luis Scola (Phoenix Suns)

According to Bonnell, Scola isn't happening and Humphries isn't looking good. Antwan has the job if he wants it.

I hear the Nets have offered Humphries $20M over two seasons or $26M over 3 seasons. At that price, he's likely in Brooklyn.

To answer the various questions, don't see Scola as a Bobcat. Jamison will be if that's what he chooses.

If the Bobcats can't land Jamison, maybe there's a way for MJ to add some more talent, like a trade for Tyler Hansbrough or signing Joseph Forte, Ademola Okulaja, Ed Cota, Shammond Williams, Makhtar N'Diaye, David Noel, or Marcus Ginyard.

I'm sure that if they need another assistant that Matt Doherty would be a good fit. I can't put my finger on it but there's something there that I'm sure MJ likes about Doherty.

I see you don't have a brain.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. If you drop back like that in the NFL on a regular basis you're basically on your own. Your OL can't do a whole lot for you. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of generating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
