Why didnt they go for an onside kick?

I wanted to know why they slowed things down, they took over half a minute off the clock on that drive by slow playing it. Then they go for the field goal which I'm kind of 50/50 on.

To answer your question they trusted their D to give them the ball back. If they stop the BUCs in three downs they get the ball back with 1 timeout, the 2 minute warning and about 2:20 on the clock. Beason was defending the deep ball on that play, he should have sold out and protected the first down marker. Touchdown/firstdown it makes no difference. Either ends the game. The deeper route over his head would have been the harder throw. So easy to play linebacker from the comfort of my chair.
