Sometimes I hate the NFL

Recommended Posts

One week, we're beating the Saints. Heading for the top of the division, league, etc.

Cam Newton is the perfect player. He's the MVP. He's ours. He's ours forever. He'll be here forever. Racking up swag, MVP's, Lombardi's.

Steve Smith tells us how "Things are different 'here' now".

Chud seems brilliant.

A week later everything is the opposite. Steve Smith is a Prick. Cam newton is leaving town when his rookie deal expires. He's a cancer. The local paper pokes fun at him. The coaching staff is on the verge of losing the team.

I mean I swear I wish I didn't love the NFL sometimes. It honestly makes me kind of hate it when things are going like this. People are rough on baseball, but I follow it day in, day out.... it's not like this with players, teams, managers. They get more equity and buy a lot more time when they do well..... not so much hate and vitriol flying around.

It's not just Carolina. It's the NFL. Happens in every city, every fan base. One loss and Cowboy fans are wanting to hang Romo. One loss and Pats fans are saying Brady has lost it. One loss and it's time to fire whoever is coaching that dumpster fire in Cleveland.

Anyone ever get tired of the damn roller coaster of this sport?

I don't mean to be a baby. I'm actually watching old NFL Primetime Highlights on YouTube

Tell me THOSE DON'T BRING BACK MEMORIES!!!!!

And I think back to when I was a kid. God the nfl was fun. All the over coverage brought on by twitter and everything else just kind of ruins the damn game. I miss NFL Primetime. I miss when QB's weren't judged just by their last week.

We're talking about running a record setting QB out of town.... he is 23. What the fug is the football world coming to? Hate it.

Fewer games magnifies their importance.

Exactly. You're comparing apples to oranges here in the OP. baseball has 182 games. Football has 16

I do understand what you're saying, but you can't do what you just did. You'll just end up getting more frustrated. The best way to get over last week is to look forward to the next week. It's early and we still have hope. Until that's completely gone and it's a mathematical uncertainty I will continue to believe that we are going to the playoffs... Where anything can and will happen

consistently winning a majority of games helps mollify the losses a little.

sucking ass as a franchise with no hope mollifies nearly all the losses.

having a franchise QB and losing a majority of games anyway is heartbreaking and very difficult to mollify.

The problem is, when you folks win, you start dusting off your mantal for the SB trophy. When you lose, you want to fire everyone and the attitude of "everything is your QB fault" gets ampted up three times more than nornal..

That level of extreme happiness and disappointment is disturbing...IMO.

    • Have a heart my friend!! I think we both agree team-wise is low on talent, no? Personally I had them at 2 wins, 4 maybe at best and right now they sit at the miracle 7 with 3 games remaining. That is with playoffs still in the frame..... Hes learning on the job as a young pup, plus simply they needs to be some sort of stop to the the "team reset" of HCs.  Im no big fan as I stated before, but 7 wins has broken my cold heart.....(wouldn't miss him tho..). He had no answer for the pitiful saints, but he also beat rams short-handed and green Bay in the bay.....Theres good and bad, maybe he can get better in future years.
    • We went from being able to rest the starters the last two weeks for a home playoff game to likely eliminated. That is how catastrophic getting swept by the Saints was. All you needed to do was win one against the Saints. And if we won both we'd clinch with any win over the final 3 weeks. But this is the Panthers, and we can't have nice things.  Absolutely can't extend Bryce if we don't make the playoffs. You just can't as a franchise. If Bryce was worth his salt he would have beaten one of the worst teams in the league once to make the playoffs. He had two chances and fumbled both
