Official Panthers/Seahawks Tailgate Thread

Seahawks come to town for a 4:15 pm matchup this Sunday thus giving us a looooong day to tailgate. This week's tailgate takes a break from donating to Toys for Tots and instead 100% of all proceeds will go to the children of Sport Youngblood fund administered by Sport's mother who will be in attendance at the tailgate on Sunday. Sport was a fixture and foundation of this website and these tailgates from day 1. He passed away too early from a heart attack at the age of 38. He was known and missed by many, many posters on this board.

This week's sponsor is long time poster and moderator Hawk as well as Bo From Monroe. Please be sure to thank them for their generous contribution because without sponsors we couldn't do these.

This weeks tailgate is catered by www.ranuccis.com Ranucci provides competition quality BBQ and just about any other food item you could think of for all of your catering needs or visit his restaurant in Belmont, NC. Ranuccis has finished Top 10 in the Memphis nationals twice and pretty much takes home a trophy in every competition entered. The food this week will consiste of pulled pork BBQ and all the fixin's like slaw, beans, buns, chips, sodas, waters, etc. There may be some other surprise menu items added during the week so keep checking back for updates.

Here is the usual info, and any other questions about the tailgate please direct to this thread:

Where? WE HAVE A NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR DUE TO DEMOLITION OF THE OLD LOT. WE ARE LOCATED AT A LARGE LOT AT THE INTERSECTION OF TRYON, 3RD ST, AND CHURCH. WE WILL HAVE TENTS WITH A HUDDLE BANNER ON IT. Located directly across 3rd street from Picassos downtown and we are most easily found by entrancing by foot off of Tryon you will run right into us.

What? Lots of friggin' badass food and non-alcoholic drinks. BYOB if you want to drink your own booze. Tents for rain or for shade provided as well as chairs for people that need them.

When? We start at 8 A.M. with breakfast from Bojangles and after 3:30 you probably won't get anything to eat cuz we're going into the stadium at that point. Get there early for the good food and to hang out with other Panthers fans like yourself.

Who? Anywhere from about 50 faithful fans who show up every game over the course of the day to another 50 stragglers and newbs. You never know who will show up and opposing fans are certainly welcome. If you have no other place to tailgate and want to maximize the gameday experience this certainly kicks ass over just pulling your car up to the stadium an hour before kickoff and walking in. You'll get better food here than any heat lamped fries you'll get in the stadium and have a good time tailgating no matter what the score is for the game.

Any other questions this is the thread to ask in.

Dude tickets will be a dime a dozen. Panther fan apathy + Seahawks = free tickets at game time

Just curious SCP ,does the calender say December? Maybe I've gone through a time warp. but I could have sworn that we play a 16 game schedule. Do you relish wussing out this early in the season?

Love it...nothing against the Toys for Tots drive of course but it's nice to see we are following through with this. Thanks Hawk and Bo for the sponsorship! Now get your asses to the tailgate!

Lol I'm there every game hombre. You are picking a fight with the wrong person. I'm bashing the majority of our fan base but I have never sold my tickets. In fact I meeting a guy next week to buy two additional PSLs. If I can't make a game, which is about once every other season, I give the tickets to a neighbor who is a Panther fan or I eat them.

Are you defending our fans? The Saints game was 2/3 full and that was the first home game of the season. This Seahawks game will be 1/2 full, watch. No matter if we play 16 or 45, tickets are easy to get for cheap to almost any game. Yet I'm still buying two more PSLs like a moron. So no, I don't wuss out.

sadly, I will not be able to get to Charlotte as originally planned but I am very happy that this idea is still going forward.

As mentioned, Sport, Cooter to so many of us, was a major contributor to the huddle in the earlier days and was always a big source of the fun at the tailgates. I know he is dearly missed by so many and for me personally, that would certainly have hit home even more had I been able to make it to the tailgate.

I am blessed to have made many relationships as part of the huddle and I hope to be able to get back to Charlotte one of these days to see so many of you and to meet those I have not yet been able to.

This doesn't change the sponsorship however...so please, I hope everyone is able to attend and drop some cash in the bucket for Sport's kids. Tilt back a beverage or two on my behalf!

    • Its completely and utterly bootlicking at this point.  If you cannot acknowledge that using 3 picks on a rb with a torn acl in the 2nd round isnt a bad pick then you simply havent a clue about football.  Sorry man it is what it is.  And its insanely laughable you are trying to strawman this argument using other players.  And what fuging facts are you bringing that is justifing morgan using 3 goddamn picks on him?  I cannot wait to hear that.
    • Scourton's interviews are telling to me that it's only a matter of time before he could really put it together.  His limitation tool-wise that I see is in his bend, but at the leaner size, it looks like it wasn't a problem at Purdue.   He has a good moveset and reads leverages very well (vet level well).  Plays both the speed/quickness (great change of direction) and has a power game with good hand usage.  Moves from what I've seen in my digs: I'm seeing cross-chop, fake crossers into bull, bull rush, spin (his preferred move of choice), hand shuck.  He's not unrefined by any means.   If he can do 2 things---I'm feeling confident from seeing his interviews that we have a real dude on our hands: 1) Diversifying his moveset/how it's deployed - Over-reliant on some, but again, he has a growing palette.  And is already great with his hands so things are in-place to coach up. 2) Developing a counter moveset and starting to play the chess game with an OT - He's very good at reading leverage, knowing when to change things up during a play.  But NFL coaching should start to teach him how to really create a plan based on an opponent.  What to throw at a guy first, how to confuse with fakes/counters, etc.  How to play against these tackles as a game progresses.   Overall, he has some things that give me serious optimism: Run Defense, speed moves, power moves, he's super young and has the size/length.  When you really spell it all out, I think we should get excited.  Temper expectations from a stat sheet standpoint, but he should be able to go in and make an impact.
