haven't read any posts but i assume OP is a female

anyways, i don't think it matters how much you play as long as you have your priorities straight. some weeks i'll play 20+ hours, other weeks i won't play at all. it all depends on my other obligations.

some people can smoke weed and play video games every day, maintain a 3.7+ GPA and have a social life. some can't.

i'll admit, i have ignored friends/parties to sit at home and play video games. probably a bit too much, especially in high school.

I don't know when D&D type games actually evolved but the basic idea is primal for men (and some women).

You press the button and you get a little prize. It's not addictive but satisfying.

It's fun to work towards a new piece of armor or a new hat or whatever. Pretty much any game that is played today is based on time and rank. It's human nature to want to move to the next level.

Or simply win the game.

There's a big difference between your brain releasing chemicals and making connections based on something that you're doing vs a chemical that you put into your body that simulates the normal neurotransmitters and then artificially gives you the same feeling. Addiction to drugs is a very different thing than enjoying an activity.
