New GM options?

Legitimate candidates:

-Marc Ross, Giants

-Eric DeCosta, Baltimore

DeCosta is a solid choice, so is Ross for that matter, but I'm not certain DeCosta will leave Baltimore. Newsome won't be there forever, and if memory serves me correctly the Colts went after DeCosta this past offseason after firing the Polians.

Solid choice, I'm just not certain he would entertain the idea.

Don't he and Richardson hate each other?

Yeah

Polian isn't happening even though he still lives in town part of the year

They aren't on good terms

If there's even the smallest bit of anything happening on that front (which includes Chris down in Atl) I'll know

I don't THINK they have any issues with one another (could certainly be wrong)... But Polian left the team to become the VP of the Colts, which was a promotion over what he had in Carolina... He's always spoke fondly of Carolina, so a return wouldn't be unfathomable... And let's face it, the man knows how to build a football team, top to bottom... And how to sustain it...

Here's a pretty good write up on up and coming GM candidates:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d825b843b/article/opportunities-present-themselves-for-hot-gm-candidates

The ones that stick out to me are:

Marc Ross - Director of College Scouting, Giants

Russ Ball - VP of Football Administration/Player Finance - Packers

Nick Caserio - Director of Player Personnel - Patriots

Reggie McKenzie - Director of Football Operations - Packers

One thing I want is someone from a successful organization. I don't want some up and comer from some bottom feeder or up and down organization. Get me someone from an organization like the Packers, Steelers, Giants, Patriots, etc. I want someone who has seen how a winning organization works from inside and is used to winning. We need a winner's mentality here. Cam Newton wasn't enough. He had it, but he's stuck in the mire of the Panthers' losing ways right now. We're just too used to losing and we need a coach and GM who aren't and won't accept it.

Peyton Manning fell in his lap. Look at what that roster did without him last season.
