Icege's Mock Draft v0.1

Icege

Recommended Posts

1st: Jonathan Hankins, DT, Ohio St

2nd: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson

4th: Dion Sims, TE, MSU

5th: D.J. Swearinger, FS, South Carolina

6th: Kyle Long, OT, Oregon

Big Ron will be on the last year of his contract in the upcoming season, giving Hankins (who will have only had two years of starting experience) time to learn. With Frank Kearse being waived and Andre Neblett likely not getting an extension, that would leave only Sione Fua as DT depth.

DeAndre is a beast. Louis Murphy has been a disappointment and there's no guarantee for Armanti.

Dion Sims is big and I'd like to see the team back to some 2 TE sets with valid passing and blocking options.

SC has been putting out some decent DBs lately. I'd rather get Jairus Byrd if possible.

Apparently Kyle Long is really good when he's not getting DUIs. Bloodline limit powa~

Like Hankins and Hopkins.

Dnt wanna take a TE in the 4th with needs elsewhere. Dnt think Swearinger will be in the 5th.

I don't think Sims will be there in the 4th, nor do I believe Hopkins will be there in the 2nd. It's really hard though to call exactly when and where these kids will go. I try to look at where scouts are projecting them at the time of the mocks though.

I like it, though I'd really like to see a OG in there.

If the team blows it up and goes from the #4 pick to say #14, I would love to take Barrett Jones out of Alabama. That dude can play anywhere on the line and has paved the way for both Ingram and Richardson. I would love for the team to finally get a man beast of a RG after so many misses at the position. That's also why I mocked in the 6th though, because I've read some reports mentioning that he might be better off at G (I haven't watched him play so I have no opinion on it).

A realistic mock? what?

I would like to see a blocking TE in FA and an O lineman/FS in the 4th. Good draft though

Jairus Byrd would make my day as a FS, but I wasn't exactly in love with the TE options coming up in free agency. At least not enough to go with a young guy that can develop. If Hopkins isn't there in the 2nd, my #2 choice is T.J. McDonald out of USC.

I guarantee Hopkins will be there in the 2nd by the time our pick comes. Hopkins is not going to go before Patterson or Da'rick Rogers (2nd rd grades). Hopkins will be a late 2nd to early 3rd.

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
