I'm done...until we get a new coaching staff

I've missed watching maybe 2 or 3 games since 1995. I've seen a lot of crap. But this crap takes the cake. We have actually regressed since last year, when we should have been getting better.

I watched every game in that god awful 1-15 season. And this just feels worse. Not just because it's the present but because we actually have some good players. I'm not saying we have a super bowl caliber roster because we don't, but we have enough good players in key positions that we should at a very minimum be competing for a playoff spot. And if not for piss poor coaching this year we would be in contention.

I know this post means nothing to Jerry Richardson (but it should since I know I'm not alone), but there you have it. I'm done.

Actually this season reminds me of 1-15 like no other season in the past. That team found baffling ways to lose too. The good news is they were in the super bowl with some smart personnel moves and a competent staff 2 years later.

Yeah there are some striking similarities between this year's team and that team. The thing is that I went into that year kind of expecting to be bad...not 1-15 bad...but bad nonetheless. This year I expected at worst 8-8.

I just said the same thing in the chat. This team is so much like 2001, except worse because this one has found unfathomable ways to lose that the 2001 squad couldn't even do on their worst day.

It sucks even more because this team has more than enough talent. The coaching is what kills us. The 2001 and 2010 teams lacked talent to win.

That being said, I don't know what to do. I no longer get upset when we lose, even in heartbreaking, unforeseen fashion, like we did today. It really didn't bother me. I expect it under this staff, which is sad. I haven't ever quit watching for any reason, but it really has gotten almost pointless to do so this year.

It seems against nature to hope we win now because I'm worried if we do RR will get another year. And I don't want to hope for my team to lose.

This team makes me feel like a battered wife. I keep saying I'm done with the team, the huddle, football, and yet I can't help but watch every Sunday. I can't stop watching this team no matter how much I try. Every Sunday I try and do something else, and the Panthers game comes on and I waste another 3 hours of my life watching it. I just can't help it. At least next week I can enjoy my Sunday and it'll just be my Monday getting ruined, and Mondays suck anyway.

    • thats fair.   I was beginning to think rookie punter was in the plans
    • Sam Martin   CARPunter#6 Panthers re-signed P Sam Martin to a two-year contract. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Martin’s deal is up to $5 million. Martin joined the Panthers last season on a one-year deal and wound up booting 56 punts for an average of 47.2 yards per punt. Martin is a 13-year vet of the league who has spent time with four different franchises. He landed a career-best 48.2 percent of his kicks inside his opponent’s 20-yard line last season.
    • Surprised CB is that low.  19th is odd spot. For many recent drafts, teams only felt there were around 14 first round players.  So to many 19 is just an early second and doesn't hold the value of a first.  If you go off- the smart path of LT, QB, edge, WR, CB, etc. Whatever your OG, Safety, ILB, etc needs to be a difference maker, that's the key point. I've said the 8th best edge is better than the 1st safety. Same for QB and even WRs. You should 100% factor in position value.  MHS you've been wanting a FS, let me tell you its super difficult to be a difference making FS. You're just sooo farrrr away from the action and the end result most times. If you're in the play, defense made mistakes in order. Now to talk out of both sides, maaaaaann that white boy from Oregon....I thought he crushed the combine and honestly that alone made me rethink "is he worth 19 now?!?!" he's now in the discussion for me, but still below others.    Plus I feel TE is vastly underrated in value terms. But looking at the last 20 years of TEs in the first, its down right bad. You're better like X10 better drafting one in 4th or 5th.
