Cam Newtons Strengths ?

Carr wasn't taught to read defenses. The coaches just told him to throw it to a spot. His own teammates testified to that.

Failure to teach him the proper way to play the game coupled with throwing him out behind offensive lines that couldn't protect him relegated him from being a potential star to a career backup.

And if you think that can't happen to Newton, think again. We're watching it happen.

That's why the best thing for his future would be to sit him until a new staff is in place, but since the current staff has zero interest in doing anything but saving their own jobs, so he'll continue to be sent out into the worst case scenario for him.

And there's not a darn thing anybody can do about it.

I agree that it could possible turn into a David Carr situation but I think it's a lot less likely.

Though Carr had potential I dont recall him having any success as an NFL quarterback.

Cam on the other hand when things are not going well can take himself back to his rookie year knowing that he did have a good year and can compete in this league something David Carr could never say.

That being said I wouldn't mind them shutting Cam down for the remainder of the year to make sure there's no long term effects, but like someone said earlier the coaches would never do that.

ahh the Huddle

as if the situation in Houston Carr era is the same as it has been Schaubb era. OMG another horrible example of KT logic. unbelieveable

are the huddlers that wish Cam sat year one ready to give Weinke and Jimmy the Pick the same amount of rope. Both of whom were in considerably worse positions as starters in their respective years considering the personnel.

was anybody. ANYBODY questioning the start of Cam Newton ANYWHERE last season once he completed his first game.

stop making excused for him. stop babying him. stop treating him like he is made of glass and will shatter if you give him a shake.

Kid needs some tough love and he is getting it. If not from the fans then definitely from the W-L column delivered by opposing teams. Failure sucks and he supposedly hates it. Let's see if he can do something about it besides transferring this time.

Carr had plenty of potential and could have been a starter in this league (he's still a backup) but he was horribly mishandled.

If Cam's ego can't handle sitting in a wasted season, then he hasn't got what it takes to lead. Leaders have to be able to handle adversity.

I see zero benefit in continuing to send Newton out there like a lamb to the slaughter.

I also see zero chance that anything other than that is what will happen.

Well as far as Carr goes, I think people place too much blame on his coaches.

People said Ryan Leaf had potential too, along with a laundry list of other quarterbacks. At the end of the day it's on that players shoulders to have the perseverance and desire to succeed. Without that, talent is irrelevant.

For Cam, as long as he gives us the best chance to win he should be our starter.

Leaf busted primarily because he was an utter a--hole.

Carr wasn't even taught to read defenses, just told to throw it to a spot.

Yes, Cam is our best chance to win, in a pretty much meaningless season.

What good does a better record this year do us if Newton gets hurt or ruined in the process?

I just don't like tanking the season for draft picks, we did it in 2010 and I barely made it through that embarrassment. He is going to take his lumps as a QB either way. If going through a tough season doesn't make him a stronger person/player and "ruins" him then we picked the wrong guy, and i don't believe that.

Nothing to do with tanking. I don't believe in tanking.

As to the other, I think I'll address that elsewhere.
