Alex Len, Center, Maryland, 2013 Draft Prospect

I don't usually make multiple threads, but I figured for a guy of Len's caliber; what the hell.

So I switched games and turned to the Maryland vs. Northwestern game, and I have seen enough. Alex Len is my pick lol, I am endorsing Alex Len as our guy. He is an incredible basketball player.

For those that don't know about Len, he is a 7'1", 240 pound, sophomore at Maryland. He has an NBA body, but is semi-raw. However, he is super athletic and has an incredible post game which makes up for being a little raw.

Below is Len's stat line for the upcoming season with a little highlight footage along the way.

Alex Len Stats (2012-2013 Season)

vs. Kentucky: 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks (32 minutes)

vs. Morehead State: 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists (24 minutes)

vs. LIU Brooklyn: 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks (32 minutes)

vs. Lafayette: 16 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block, 1 assist (28 minutes)

vs. Georgia Southern: 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block (17 minutes)

vs. Northwestern: 13 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assist (24 minutes)

vs. George Mason: 12 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks (30 minutes)

vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore: 9 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks (17 minutes)

vs. South Carolina State: 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block (28 minutes)

vs. Monmouth: 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks (24 minutes)

vs. Stony Brook: 19 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block (28 minutes)

I guess I wouldnt mind him.

-McAdoo looks like $hit.

-Not sure if Zeller can impact the next level.

-Noel has little offensive game

-Shabazz still need to prove everyone that he's a legit scorer.

This draft which looked promising a few months ago is starting to look mediocrity.

Shabazz may be the consensus no.1 pick at the end of the day.

Id love to have Len in a Charlotte jersey.

I have watched games or footage of all the top centers and power forwards in the draft, and Len; without a shadow of a doubt has the best post game. He's much stronger than he looks and has a patented spin move that he performs flawlessly (see the video above) and he uses the drop step to perfection. He also has a wingspan measuring 7'5" which allows him to get his shot up over anyone and everyone (remember, this is a 7'1" athlete we are talking about). Len also runs the floor fairly well (similar to Tyler Zeller) and in my opinion is the second best shot blocker and rebounder in the class to only Jeff Withey (who is known solely for his defense and rebounding).

Another great aspect of Len's game is that he has a solid mid range jumper and he has shown the capability of shooting the three ball even though he rarely does pull the trigger unless he is wide open.

I've really been impressed with what I've seen from this kid so far.

His wingspan is an inch shorter than Bismack?

I like him and I wouldn't mind him at all.

How is his game different from Mullens? Is his defense and rebounding better than Mullens? The first clip above showed his ability to shoot the ba similar to Mullens. I'm just afraid he might be another Mullens. Excuse my stupidity. I just know little about Len.

Guest Hornets 2.0

Hasn't played against anybody & he fuging sucked last year. UK is a bad team this year. Their frosh aren't that good. Other than that they've played a bunch of mid major scrubs.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
