Dwayne Bowe?

One of the challenges the new GM faces is creating cap space. He may cut Gross (nearly $9 million agaiinst the cap) and draft LT Eric Fisher. Fisher would play LT for $1 million on a rookie deal (for example). Cap room could be created by cutting players like DWill, Ron Edwards, Gamble, etc.

However, if your point was to emphasize how screwed we are thanks to Marty Hurney, I am all on board. What an idiot.

Cutting DWill will not create cap space next year.

Ron Edwards should remain as he is very cheap for the way he has played.

Gamble will restructure. We have nothing by inexperience behind him

I can see Gross retructuring. But, I see little to no possibility of hm being cut. We have struggled to find a solution at RT....so I guess it makes sense to The Huddle to cut our best tackle.

You guys have to stop playing Madden.

Not a huge fan of this WR FA class honestly. I'd take Bowe, but I'd rather develop a prospect. I would be scared to seriously commit to a guy like Bowe. WR isn't as big of a need as people seem to think in my opinion. We may not have a Calvin Johnson type on the roster but we do have a good core of WR's. Lafell is developing well. Smitty will give us one more good year. Murphy is an alright number 3, and there's still Olsen. If we focus offensive line in FA/ draft and improve the running game our WR's will look much better, but no WR looks great when D's can sit back in max zone and can get pressure with four. Solid Running game will help out the playaction as well. I do think, however, we draft one WR to groom as a replacement for Smith....it's cheaper that way, and I think it's best in terms of player development. If we could get Hopkins, I'd be pretty happy leaving it how it is other then that.

I never played it, do not own it.

You don't know any more than I do. We don't even have a GM.

You are assuming that we want to keep Gross and Gamble. If I can draft a rookie and sign a veteran G and S with the savings, I might let a 33 year old T go. That is not unreasonable. Hurney is no longer here to protect his picks and there will probably be some changes to creates some room to better meet our needs. Since Gross is one of the moves that creates cap room, and because he is old, and because he did not have a great year,

How many games has Ron Edwards played in 2 years? 8? His salary is pretty cheap for what he can do when healthy, but he is 34. We need him, but I am not sure that $2.5 milion for a 34-year old guy averaging about 4 games a year is a bargain. Thinking he is a bargain is more Madden than realism.

Restructuring everyone from a losing team mortgages the future.

You could be right, but that does not mean there was only one realistic option.
