Watching Super Bowl XLII highlights...

The Giants dissection of the up-to-then perfect Patriots is a wonder to behold. They had the Pats superstar offense so completely figured out that by day's end, they were frustrated, confused and utterly beaten.

The basis for the gameplan the Giants used in that contest was a 125 page scouting report that covered all their strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, etc.

One of the men who helped put that report together is now our General Manager.

Giants beat the Pats with a pass rush, Gettleman talked about needing the "big guys" to win... this is what he meant on the defensive side of the ball.

One of the best QB's of all time was made to look average with a pass rush.

Brady just about always folds when his opponent can get consistent pressure.

It oughtta be well known by now that that's how to beat him, but a fair number of teams are too buffaloed by his reputation to try it. Teams like the Giants and Ravens show why you shouldn't be.

So does Manning and Brees.

No QB can do much facing consistent pressure. You rush your reads, lose composure in the pocket and are often forced to abandon mechanics and footwork.

Gettleman was the head honcho of that report, I think

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
