Furnace/Fan problem

My furnace works great. Heats up my house in matter of seconds but my fan pisses me off... After furnace stops working, my fan turns on and continues to run for another 10 minutes and blowing cool air and cooling off my house... It sucks freshly warmed air and circulates it through the roof where it's freezing and dumps it back into my house... so my furnace turns on literally 2 minutes after fans stops working. Anyone know why my fan turns on right after my furnace stops working?

So a heat pump then? They run the fan more than gas heat. since it's a new house its warranteed, so call the number and get them to come out and look. This been going on since you moved in, or just recently?

I think it's been going on since I moved in. It just got very cold recently so I just noticed. I'm averaging 100 KWH per day because of this crap.

Heat pumps suck, in my opinion, but I'd go ahead and call them and get them to look it over. Installers could have done something stupid.

Oh, I am... There is no way my outside unit have to work 24 hours a day... I'm looking at $500 bill in February from Duke... If they tell me it's normal, I will have to file a complaint on BBB.

If you have heat strips in your air handler, the fan turns off after the coils, to keep them from burning up. But it should only be 20-30 seconds. Your fan switch is going bad.

I agree with the cool down cycle...but 10 minutes sounds really long...and are you sure it circulates the air through your roof before back into the house??? this sounds really dumb

How does it circulate otherwise? My vents located on my ceiling so it has to go through my roof. Its very dumb design if it takes so long to cool off... My house is set to 70¤. When my heat pump stops working, fan automatically turns on and my house cools down to 68¤ so when fan stops working, heat pump turns on again and so on... Never ending process. So my outside unit works 24/7.

At least your bedroom doesn't stay 80 degrees like mine.

My furnace is located in the attic, directly over the master bedroom on the third floor. Since My room is right by the furnace, it just blasts a ton of super hot air into the bedroom and the rest of the house stays relatively cool. It's great in the summer because I also get the most cool air, but in the winter it is miserable.
