Giants cut DL Chris Canty, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, LB Michael Boley and voided the contract of DE Osi Umenyiora

Eagles have cut OT Demetrius Bell and released DT Cullen Jenkins (Kris's younger brother, since signed by the Giants) and DT Mike Patterson

Lions release G Stephen Peterman, DE Kyle VandenBosch

Browns release DE Frostee Rucker (no relation to Mike Rucker but went to same high school as DeShaun Foster)

Bills release LB Nick Barnett, S George Wilson (since signed by Titans) and CB Terrence McGee

Bears terminate the contract of WR Johnny Knox

Packers cut DB Charles Woodson and C Jeff Saturday (who's expected to retire)

Jets cut LB Calvin Pace, LB Bart Scott, S Eric Smith and T Jason Smith and waive TE Josh Baker

Chiefs cut WR Steve Breaston, TE Kevin Boss (he of "helmet catch" fame) and OT Eric Winston.

Saints release TE David Thomas and waive CB Johnny Patrick (claimed by Chargers)

Cardinals cut LB Stewart Bradley and CB William Gay (now back with his old team) S Adrian Wilson and WR Early Doucet

Falcons cut RB Michael Turner (with a notation that he failed a physical) along with DE John Abraham and CB Dunta Robinson (signed by the Chiefs)

Chargers cut LB Takeo Spikes and S Atari Bigby

In possible news, Redskins (and former Saints) OT Jammal Brown is expected to be allowed to become a free agent.

Brown was the Saints first round pick the same year we drafted Thomas Davis. They thought he'd be their franchise left tackle for years but it didn't work out that way.

Didn't they trade aheady of us, thinking the Panthers were going to draft him?

      Evero has his faults, but even in that loss, the team only gave up 20 points. Your post gets to the heart of the matter. We are not a talented team on defense at this time. Some of our younger guys may develop w/more playing time, but for now we have no impact players at LB or EDGE. We could really use a ball-hawking S on the back end as well. We have exactly two players that have to be accounted for on every play, D. Brown, and J.Horn. Mike Jackson has been solid. The other starters would probably be backups on most the upper echelon NFL teams. We really can't expect this team to a Top 10 defense with such a lack of talent. And, we are doing this without a formidable PASS RUSH. Even our rushing defense has improved.       How about some line help, both sides, first. Trade XL before talking about a 1st round WR 3 years in a row. Or a TE or...drum roll...a QB to pair with a vet.  And if it's not a speedy route guy with hands then just hard pass.
