Stirs Pre combine draft

Everything will change this coming weekend and again once FA starts, but here is how I see it currently.

Shariff Floyd must be flying up boards as Tannenbaum had him going 3rd to Oakland.

Doubt he is there when we pick. Same with Warmack, Richardson and Fisher, thus..

1st Trade with Pittsburgh who desparately needs to get a rushing OLB and moves just in front of New Orleans, who is swithcing to a 3-4, to get their OLB. Panthers give up their fifth and get Pittsburghs third.

With the 17th pick, the Panthers select OT Lane Johnson. Very quick/fast, can still put on 15 lbs with no decrease in speed.

2nd DT Jesse Williams/Kawann Short I think one of these guys will be available at our pick in the second.

3rd CB Jamar Taylor Boise State. He is not that tall, but I think he will be an outstanding CB in the NFL

4th OG Travis Bond UNC

6th WR/HBack Marcus Davis Va Tech. Big guy/good speed, can work into some TE sets/Hback sets at 6'4" 235 lbs

On to the combine and FA where we will pick up a safety. WR's are also an area not addressed. Guys coming back from IR might pick that up.

no extra picks for the trade lol oh hell naw. i would stay right a 14. got to give me at least a 2nd or 3rd.

johnson is decent but his stock is rising.....luke,erice and lane will be gone.......best chance you got at a decent lt is dallas thomas or terron armstead and you dont know if they can translate to the pros even though they are talented.

    • BPA in draft all the way. Address your biggest needs in free agency.
    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
