I'd probably think about taking Drew Brees. He was my first pick last year, and I won the league (I had Cutler in the other one, and won that one also).

My thing is that you have to take a top QB because they are hard to come by, but will consistently get you a good, if not great number of points every week.

Brees, P. Manning, Brady, Cutler, Rivers, or Kurt Warner would be on my radar.

Some People believe in the best RB.

In this case I would probably try and get Matt Forte as he was probably the most consistent back all year long (and was my main back), so again there is a consistent point total that you can look forward to.

D. Will, Peterson, Tomlinson, Turner, Slaton, and Chris Johnson would be on my radar.

I took chances on The Burner (and Jonothan Stewart ) as my first backs drafted last year. I also picked up Slaton and traded or C. Johnson. Like I said, Forte was my main back (and I traded Beason and somebody else for him before the season started).

Unlike some, between WRs and RBs, I tend to take the BAP. An Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Fitz or Smitty is typically going to have games on par with top RBs.

Anyway, it works for me. I have two out of three trophies (missing the third, literally by a tiebreaker). Some are telling you to trade down, but I wouldn't necessarily look a gift horse in the mouth.

I had the first overall last season, and took Brady. We all know what happened to him. I ended up losing the PF tiebreaker, and missing the playoffs. This is my luck though as the year before I took Steven Jackson second overall, and the year before that I took Shaun Alexander second overall.

This trend has me steering away from Williams, and leaning towards one of the other top backs you mentioned top dawg. In my league RB is top priority. Points are awarded almost identically to QB(not yards), and every owner takes the RB first and alot also take them second.

At the fourth pick this year I am 95% sure I could get Williams and Slaton. I may could have Turner or Forte, and almost certainly any one of the QBs.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
