WR Heyward-Bey & DB Huff Released By Oakland

Recommended Posts

2011 - Heyward Bey - 15 games - 976 yards, 4TDs

2011 - Murphy -11 games - 241 yards, 0 TDs and was cut

Murphy didn't do what you claim...

2010 - Heyward Bey - 366 yards

2011 - Murphy - 609 yards

He did, before he fell out of favor during a regime change.

He was the #1 receiver my friend. Moore ended up with about 100 more yards, but he was the #2 guy, DHB was the #1.

I don't totally care what you call him, but Moore and Myers both produced more.

Quick question for all the DHB fans: If Rod Streater had been released by the Raiders, would any of y'all want him? Because last year they had nearly the same stats. Streater had a better catch rate and YPC, DHB caught two more touchdowns, but they played at the same level. If he wasn't a former top-ten pick, who would want him?

All about need....we need someone to stretch the field.

You going argue Murphy can do it better?

It isn't a question of how good is DHB compared to great WRs....it is how much better is he at X than the guys we are currently asking to do X. He is totally worth a cheap 1-2 yr deal

If all it takes is a few years and not much cash, I'm not saying it's a bad idea. But the only tool he has is speed. Literally, that's it. Isn't that basically Gettis?

Jason Campbell doesn't throw downfield....he once had Clausen type streak going in Washington with about 250 pass attempts and no TDs to WRs. You can judge him on how he did with Palmer. His numbers weren't to drastically far from agent 89 in those 2 yrs.....less but nothing spectacularly less. He can stretch the field....

DHB is more legit doing it than either Gettis or Murphy....

I'm off the Gettis wagon....too little, too long ago. If DHB played a full 16 he would have had a 1000 yard season in 2011 doing it. Almost had it in 15.....and scored more big plays recently than Gettis and Murphy combined the last 2 yrs with a downfield throwing QB.

he isn't great, upgrade over the guys we use in that role

That year is the outlier, though. I'm not a fan of any of the current options, either, but is tossing another mediocre guy into the mix really going to help?

I'd say he is a decent upgrade over Murphy.

You don't keep them all

No offence but that is completely incorrect. Per PFF, in 2010 Campbell had the fourth highest deep ball attempt percentage in the entire NFL. (Of players who played at least 50 percent of their team snaps). Carson Palmer in both years never eclipsed it. Campbell threw it deep plenty in Oak.

I would advise you look at more than just an attempt stat

System required him to sling in...hence ATTEMPTS....it isn't what he is....nor is he good at it.

2010- Campbell - 11 TDs to RBs/ TEs vs 6 to WRs

2012- Palmer - 5 TDs to RBs/TEs vs 19 to WRs.

Palmer can throw downfield....Campbell has never been good at getting the WRs the ball downfield for plays dating back to comical stuff in Washington. It is why I highly protested people thinking he was a good backup option here.

You can't judge him based off his Campbell years....Palmer rolled off the couch in 2011 didn't know the offense....and from snap 1 did the job noticeably better.

Look at their receptions as well....receptions by WRs more than doubled when Palmer took over in 2012. TDs doubled.
