Any Clutch Fans?

I don't expect many to reply to this thread, but check these guys out. I've been a huge Clutch fan for about 7 or 8 years now. I've been to four shows and they've always put on an amazing show. They've been labeled as a stoner rock, funk, jazz, metal, southern rock, and blues band. But they are a very straight-forward band; a punch in the mouth if you will. If you like groovy riffs, some amazing drumming and an absurdist poet singer then this is the band for you. They are a working man's band. Not much notoriety, but they have a cult following.

The lead singer/songwriter is Neil Fallon, a mammoth of a man (voice wise) who preaches his rock n' roll to anyone who will listen. His lyrical topics range from Abraham Lincoln to Medousa to Biblical figures to Cyborg Girlfriends. Very interesting and fun lyrics. Really off the wall stuff.

They've evolved there sound over the 20+ years they have played. Each record has it's own different vibe to it.

Here are some youtube videos of the diversity of their sound. Their new album, Earth Rocker, has been getting a lot of great reviews. They were just touring with Motorhead and Thin Lizzy...

Pure Rock Fury:

Blast Tyrant:

From Beale Street to Oblivion:

Strange Cousins from the West:

A very cool and unique sounding band.

I saw them at the Orange Peel two days after Christmas, this past year. They completely demolished that place. Five people got kicked out, the floor was shaking the entire night. They were on there A-game that night. I've seen a lot of different bands/people; Warren Haynes, John Paul Jones of Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers, ZZ top, ect. And these guys put on the best show I have ever seen.

...and he shall appear.... Bakerton is Clutch without their singer, some people don't like Neal's vocal...

Been going to see Clutch since about 1994, they used to play here every few months. Go see them every time they're here, went down to NagsHead to see them, but the best is up in DC. Absolutely recommend going to a show, best $20 you'll spend all year....

Not going to question that. Im not a big fan of instrumentals so I dont really listen to them. I have, however, seen Bakerton open for Clutch a few times, Neil was nowhere to be seen. I'll take a wrong here...

biscuit'll tell you, Ive been hollerin Clutch on here for years, started a few threads on them. Think catfang did the last talkin about Earth Rocker coming out. How fugged up is it that I got the new CD the day it came out & have not listened to it yet?

I spread some rep around just because.. Z got pie & rep for the Nashville Pussy reference, they are entertaining.....

Yea he's on the recordings, I've never been able to see them open up with Bakerton, though. Earth Rocker is the poo. It's back to that Blast Tyrant type of sound. My favorite song off the new album is my sig. Neil's voice sounds incredible on this album.

I will get to listening tonight...

When they toured in support of BlastTyrant, it was billed as 'An Evening with Clutch'. Bakerton opened, played for 30-45mins, then Clutch came out & played 2 full sets. If you can get a hold of 'Live in Flint, MI' that is from that tour.

Ive owned Elephant Riders 4 times, lose it within 3 weeks each tiem. I am just not meant to own that album....

Dude I'm the biggest Clutch fan i know...have bootleg CD's of festival recordings at Bonnaroo, LIve in Flint, all that good stuff. There's only one dude i know that will go to shows with me cause my other friends can't stand them.

But Elephant Riders is the poo. I've never really heard a song from them I didn't like.

    • Nothing wrong with starting to look for bodies early. It's a long injury filled season. I doubt we get through unscathed.
    • We're in alignment regarding Thielen not being a game changer/breaker for the Panthers. Getting the ball into hands of playmakers like TMac and XL is going to open up things more than it is getting it to Thielen underneath (or letting him go after 50/50 balls 20yds downfield in his mid-30s). However, in a room where the other guys are two second year guys and two rookies, having a reliable vet that they can learn from is just as important as it is for the QB to have as a reliable third option. I can see that being worth $8.5M (just 3%) of the $279.2M cap... especially when looking at what's left out there: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/position/wr However, the idea that the team is forcing production to Thielen and leading to losses isn't supported by the data. Targets, not receiving yards, are how you can tell if a player is being "force fed." In the two games mentioned, let's look at the other players available... vs. TB 10 targets - Adam Thielen 9 targets - David Moore 8 targets - Tommy Tremble, Xavier Legette 3 targets - Jonathon Brooks 1 target - Dan Chisena, Feleipe Franks, Stephen Sullivan vs. PHI 11 targets - Adam Thielen 8 targets - Xavier Legette 5 targets - Chuba Hubbard, David Moore 2 targets - Tommy Tremble 1 target - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Deven Thompkins There isn't exactly a bounty of other names to throw the ball to. In those games, AT was one of the top 2 WRs. Diontae had been gone by that point.   So... yea. Agreed that Thielen isn't exactly carrying the team in his mid-30s, but it's undeniable that he was the most reliable target last season that still has quite a bit of value this season. Whether or not that value is reflected in a manner folks think on the contract is going to come down to personal taste. However, the idea that the team was forcing production to AT and that was the reason behind some losses couldn't be further from the truth.
    • I would also add that I think it's more than money.  AT has looked absolutely miserable out there at times, and there was a lot of speculation he would demand to be traded.  Personally, I thought he was a lock to be moved last year.  Maybe his hamstring is the only thing that prevents that from happening. The fact that he's not only willing to come back and play, but excited about it, really bodes well for Bryce.  AT is a veteran and he knows the game.  If he didn't have confidence in Bryce, I guarantee you he wouldn't be in a Panther uniform this year.  I'll take that as a positive.
