Tomorrow And Thursday

CLEARHOT

Are important dates concerning the vote on using current monies for BoA stadium upgrades. If the vote passes thursday, then a major hurrdle is cleared. Like it or not with public money tied to the stadium, this will give local gov. a little more leverage in tying the Panthers to Charlotte and the Carolinas someday when we get a new owner. Fingers crossed.

There is a lot at stake. The vote will definitely pass.

Not looking good. State is not going to step up and the city is going to fall way short. probably get a 5 year tether if that. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/04/09/3969342/city-help-for-panthers-likely.html

Pisses me the fug off.

A little part of me would like to see them move just to throw up a big middle finger to those that oppose the funding. If the city and state aren't willing to step up to compete with other major sports cities and states, then we don't deserve a team. Steeler fans. Skins fans, Bills and Cowboys fans can just go about watching their shitty teams at home on TV. Meanwhile until we do move, JR should make BofA stadium off limits to any and all state or city use.

Can someone please explain to me why they wouldn't pass the prepared food and beverage tax?

That seems like a no-brainer and also one that would not put a huge burden on the public.

Are there ramifications for restaurant and bar owners that i'm not aware of?

Because there are an incredibly # of liberals...and yankees....living in Charlotte that seem to think that any extra monies need to go to people that choose to sit at home and not work. Give me an escalator, Hi-Def Screens and a cold beer baby.......GO PANTHERS!!!!!!

The state wouldn't approve it, yet its a local food tax. Not sure if its the states business. They said no to the $62 million from the state. The Charlotte restaurant trade association approved it. If the opinions of the anti-food tax folks on here are any indication, the argument boils down to "why should a rich bazzilionaire get my tax dollars!!11!" Well, he's not going to now so the libs and progressives got what they want from a conservative Governor and state legislature. We are the one city/state of the 32 NFL teams that does not value having an NFL franchise. I think the new owner should move the team.

The government should not pay for infrastructure improvements for private organizations. So what if the community benefits and all that other job creation, local business crap. Who cares. I think they should spend tax money on more meaningful and traditional government programs such as snail mating rituals and examining pig feces. We shouldn't even think about funneling money away from those things. You folks just don't understand how government works...*

    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
    • Maybe faked was too strong of a word.  "Milked" may be the better way to call it.
