I'd rather he didn't.

Denver is weak against the run. The only reason we should be passing much at all is if they somehow manage, by good scheming or sheer effort, to stop the Panther run game.

You do have to pass some to keep it honest, but it all goes well by games end the Bronco D should be too worn down to stop anything on the ground, thus allowing the Panthers to just pound it.

Well, I certainly wouldn't have predicted a game plan that was as heavy on passing as there was yesterday.

Still, if you see something in the defense that lends to that - as Davidson obviously did - why not?

I'd say it served as a notice to teams that you can't just concentrate on shutting down the run and half-ass your coverage of Steve Smith. And if you adjust to double Smith, there's still Muhammad.

Yes, Denver was banged up, but as a confidence builder, that was a good game.

    • I generally disagree with the concept of picking a position because of value early in the draft. For instance, if there's a really good safety, RB or ILB at pick 10, I'm choosing him over a project WR or DE. Better players make the team better. A bunch of ok players will give you an ok team. The number 1 goal of the draft should be to improve the overall talent on the team. Not to fill positions of need.  Deciding beforehand that you're picking a LT in the first or second round because Ickey went down is not the way to improve the team. Now if Dan has similar grades on 2 or 3 players and one happens to be a LT, then yeah go for it. But don't pass on your guy at ILB because you have a gap at LT or need to improve the pass rush with a DE. When those guys don't pan out then you haven't improved your team. But that LB could have been a franchise cornerstone for years to come. See Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey.
    • Thank God we are inthe NFC South--
    • When Sanders was named as an alternate, I was all like, "That's a big ol bowl of NOPE."   In my view, they would be better off showing a documentary on the 32 "man of the year" candidates to show what they do for charities etc.
