Shula proponent behind replacing zone read last season?

*sigh* Love is blind, I guess.

Amusing that you think I have blind homerism for Cam. Actually, I am pretty critical of the guy....as guys like CRA can attest to.

I am just willing to call it like it really was.

Cam did not play great that game. But, the entire offense struggled and there washer than enough blame for everyone on the offense that day.

That game was a microcosm of the season last year. We were a play away from a win...whether that be Murphy stretching for that last yard or the Cam throw.

This team is very close. And I do expect to turn that corner and be in the playoffs this season.

I presented data several times during last season showing how much we used the read option the first part of the year, and how little we used it the last part of the year. So while it didn't go away entirely, it's use was very restricted as we got later into the season.

Do you remember the play before the throw in the dirt? The one to Murphy on the 1/2 yard line when Murphy couldn't reach out for the final couple of feet to get the TD? Had Murphy executed on that play, we all would have been talking about Cam's miraculous comeback win against the Hawks. Instead, he becomes the fall guy because he failed one play later. My only point? It's a team game. Cam didn't lose that game nor would he have won it if Murphy got in. We win or lose as a team.

It was used less, which is different than "replacing" it.

And there's nothing wrong with admitting that Cam blew it against Seattle.  It happens.  What's worse than that is excessively coddling him.  He was terrible the entire game.  Was the the only reason we lost?  Of course not.  Was he the main reason?  Yes.  He's also been the main reason behind some of our wins, so there.

You make it sound like he was just a little off.  He was buttfu*king terrible.  It was probably the worst game of his career.

Again, it happens to good quarterbacks.

The biggest thing our offense needs is a QB who does not allow adversity to take his head out of the game.  I know that comment will annoy the huggers who post whenever he is seen at the mall or on a TV commercial, but it is an opinion shared by most experts.

Thanks for the revelation the mighty one. I've seen the lights! I can see! I can see!.....I can see!!!!

The whole offense was majorly off that game. Not just Cam.

Now finish your homework and go to bed. Based on the quality of your posts, it is probably close to your bed time.

Both teams sucked on offense....

Biggest killer for us was when we where up by 4 with the ball right as the 4th q was about to start. Williams fumbled right around our own 25.

Also, that game was one of many times Rivera stubbornly didn't use Cam to pick up one yard.

Sounds like bull.

Chud comes from the Norv. They run. He ran in Clev. They ran in 11. They ran most of 12.

I don't think because of 4-5 games the QB coach suddenly became the OC and no one knew it.

Like all along, Chud probably told Shula we are now gonna do x, y, and z this week. Let me me know what you think. Shula probably said Cam probably is best at x, y, and a. Probably did the exact same when they went heavily zone read. Shula is the one coaching Cam so he communicates with the OC

You really don't seem to want Shula to succeed given all the bitching you have done about him. I think he is going to prove you are wrong once again.  Even Chud said he was integral to developing the game plan and had plenty of input into the schemes.

Nah, you are too quick to want to argue with me.

Check my posts. Did you even read it....the post you quoted I said Shula gave his input. Standard pracrice. I think Shula will be just fine. I just think this article is a huge reach. Shula always give input....bc he knows the QB better than anyone here. Article is trying to suggest something unusual occured IMO.

I am a Shula supporter. Go take the your a "Shula hater" defense to Zod or someone who doesn't believe in him

If it makes your vagina feel any better, I think Cam deserves most of the credit for the Atlanta win.

If you're really the "call it like it is" guy around here, that's pretty ominous.

Then again you have said you are a Williams supporter too. We just paid too much........

That is what you call support??  A couple of left handed compliments while you slip in the knife??

Et tu Brute??

Keep your right handed bigotry out of here. Hitler was right handed you know....

As to the actual topic, here's the sentence we're debating:

"QBs coach Mike Shula helped install a more traditional, I-formation offense, replacing Rob Chudzinski's zone read"

That sounds like Rivera stepping in and forcing Chud to make a change, and having Shula involved in that process, which honestly, sounds plausible. After season 1, all the players, coaches, etc were afraid to lose Chud. After season 2, they didn't seem too broken up when he left.

The reality is we have no clue, and probably will never know because that stuff is and should remain internal team business.

But that's one of the reasons why we're here, to debate and discuss opinions even when we have little real information. So maybe we can just acknowledge that we're all speculating and not get so worked up when someone's speculation differs from our own.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
