Panthers Prospect Brandon Williams

This is obviously a long shot, but a pretty cool story.

"The guy's got freakish athletic ability. If he can get the system piece down … I think the sky's the limit for the guy,” Wright said.

“When you look at him physically, you don't see many players walking around looking like him.”

He's had a lot of bad luck and he has a long road ahead of him. But I'm rooting for him.

It will. He got a second opinion. So I hope Brandon makes the squad. His tape from D-2 is insane.

i cant remember how it goes, can someone tell me how the udfa process works?

is it free picking or is there an order to it?

do the players have agents that contact teams they want to try out for or do teams notify the players or agents?

^I'm pretty sure he makes it to training camp because we signed him.  There are players that are offered tryouts in this 3 day rookie camp. But I think BW is going to training camp before they decide if he is PS, makes the 53 man roster, or gets cut. Not 100% positive though.

Correct.

BTW, it says a lot that he was signed before the draft. They made sure nobody scooped him up first.

Yep. I dont like to make the Victor Cruz analogy, but there is something about this kid. Not sure if he is gonna make it, but he has the tools and the management seems to really like him.

Also note: He is/was a basketball player

Bryant has been referred to as a WR several times now. I don't see him going back. He's too lean to be a TE.

Then he'll probably be a career practice squad player, because there are better options who do exactly what he does but better (i.e. Hixon, Gettis). With said, it looks like a Williams vs. Rosario competition for the final tight end spot.

I mean I guess they could let Brockel be the third tight end (since he's listed as a tight end on the website) and have Zordich as the back-up fullback (which I wouldn't be opposed to), but Brockel is essentially the same thing as Hartsock; so I don't see the point in using him as a tight end.

    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
    • Canales has never been part of big YAC offenses in the NFL.  That’s not his tree.  Not in Seattle, Tampa or here.  Every O he has been associated with basically has been bottom half of the league in YAC.  That’s what Bryce needs to happen though  2 very different things….and very much gets into why the middle school QB doesn’t fit
