Cam, Luke, Star, and Short are 4 really good young core guys to build with for the future.

CJ, Kalil, Amini, Stewart, Beason? and Olsen are veteran players that could still be here 2-4 years from now.

We're a WR, Corner, and Safety away from being really good.

 

Add a Hakeem Nicks, young OT, and draft a corner next year and the future could be bright.

Cam threw for almost 4000 yards last year. We must be doing something right.

It all comes down to how the ball bounces. Stay injury free, so to speak, is huge. Win the field position game with good ST play is key as well. Limit the turnovers and poorly timed mistakes, and you have a team that can compete.

That was us at the end of last year. The only thing holding this team back from the next level is experience. Learning how to win was a start. Winning on a more consistent basis, is a good first step.

The D was better at the end of last year than given credit for. With the additions we have made. There is every reason to believe we will be even better this year. That thought brings a smile to me.

This team is capable of competing with anybody. That is what we all want. Competitive. You have to be competitive before you can take the next step.

How many of you guys think that there is a looming showdown between Gettleman and the agents of CJ and Beason?

 

He can't develop fair contracts with the likes of Hardy, Luke, etc. with those monster paydays out there

 

Beason has no leverage but to take a paycut/restructure once he is asked to.

CJ has some leverage, but as a veteran he is going to likely restructure for the good of the team; hopefully. Two guys that should be restructuring their contracts soon too are Godrey and Stewart.

I think that we are good enough to win the South this season and make the Playoffs. I will not take anything less than a wildcard spot. But, I am not ready to say we are SB contender. I think we are a few pieces away from that. We have some good veterans players and 4-5 very good young players that will lead this team to the future. A couple more pieces (WR, OT, S) added to this team and I can see us being a SB contender as soon as 2014-2015.

You are letting the past, limit your idea of who we are now, by jumping ahead to who we can be. If we can be SB contenders with only adding a WR, S, and OT?. Why can't this team compete? Why do we have to wait for the future to get here to have a good team?

If we go say 10-6 this year. Over the last 23 games our record will have been 15-8. Seems like the future has already started to me.
