NFL.COM 2013 WR Ranks

I posted actual facts/stats....Smitty hasn't cracked the top 10 in yards, TDs, rec, YAC, in either of the last 2 seasons.....so no, that no longer sounds like top 5 caliber.

And no, the fact just claimed about combined yards isn't accurate over the last 2 years...he may be top 10 if you want to rank collective yards over two years but he isn't 3rd. If you are going to get snarky....at least use real facts

So Larry Fitzgerald is ok at #2 despite not even finishing in the top 40 in yards?

my post should of said top 5 not 10. But you are right, he did come in 5th in yards

Smith wasn't 7th in TDs....17 WRs had more TDs and there where also TEs ahead

YAC is as useless as a football bat.

Jerry Rice 2.2 career YAC.

It isn't useless.....depends on what type player you are. YAC was a HUGE part of what made Smith a dominant nightmare. Rice's game was different

He was tied** for 7th in which included TE's. There were 12 players that year with 7 td's.

I respect your opinion on Steve.

20 players had more than 7 rec TDs. So he was tied with with 12 players for 21st place

As far as YAC and why it matters with Smith big picture....I would argue no WR in NFL history did what he did in 2005 or the 2003-2007 in terms of YAC.

2005 - greatest YAC in NFL history (810 yards after catch)

2003-2007 - 47% of his rec yards were YAC

He was the most diverse and dangerous WR in the NFL.

CRA.

When the inlaws try to suck me into one of their arguments. (You have to maintain a presence but at the same time, keep a low profile.) I try and change the subject to something history, or cosmic related. Because they all watch the History/Discovery/Nat Geo Channels, they jump right in. All I have to do is throw in some what ifs? Or a few, why did they do thats? With an, I think thrown in, and I am good. They are so used to arguing amongst themselves, they don't even miss me.

I use that analogy to show you aren't doing anything new. Hellz, I learned it from my sister. She said I could deflect their anger away from me and onto other things. It works wonders on hillbilly's.

On a Panthers message board? Not so much. When you make a negatively vague assertion. You are expected to defend it, not deflect it. You are the king of deflection. I applaud you sir. Which is why it is so much fun debating you. I know I can't win, but I'll be dammed if I'm gonna give up.

Damm, you've turned me into my inlaws. Time to quit.

nvm nvm nvm

Saying Smith isn't the same dominant player he was years ago isn't a negatively vague assertation.

If you want to think he is the same guy from 2005....cool. Just don't expect everyone to agree with you when you refer to the 2013 season.

No one is sucking you into anything.....

He wasn't a top 5 caliber WR last year. Those days are over

This statement is a negatively vague assertion. You may think those days are over, but there is no proof you are right. Hence the assertion. After cherry picking a down year to make a negative comment. Just because you don't see it, does not mean you don't do it.

I have never said he was still as good as 05 Smitty. I did however say, he is still elite. Misquoting me just proves my case that you either don't actually read what other post, or you disregard what you don't want to hear.

Top 5...

He wasn't that caliber last year....not statistically or play on the field. In the past 3 years....he hasn't had te resume or play to back that either.

Will he be that this year? Considering he is 34....NFL history has shown players get worse as they age not the other way around.

That isn't negativiely vague. It is just not agreeing with overstating how good someone is bc he is a favorite player....and talking about an aging players most recent work isn't cherry picking.

All I know is I would only take 1 wr over Smitty and his name is Megatron. I wouldn't take anybody else over Smitty.

*Oh yeah Larry Fitzgerald has become the most overrated wr in the NFL. I watched a lot of Arizona games, and the guy just give up on plays, maybe that had something to do with the qb but he is scared to go in the middle of the field.
