"They're all thugs"

Awesomeness!!

But that's the problem. The money many of these players make are short term. You may make more in  your career. And if you're not in the league more than a few years, what difference does it make if you blow it all, by the time your career is over?

Now of course, players who have decent contracts, and/have made significant money (and who are still in the league), like Hernandez, generally have a lot more to lose and should know better.

Not sure what the real point is that you are trying to make.

Can you explain a little further?

Not sure you were following the thread?

This came from a multi-post discussion on whether or not these players were "millionaire" that the original poster quoted, corrected, after someone else responded to.

The Main Point is: Many of these players (especially the ones who hang around for a cup of coffee, 1-3 years, and who don't make a lot of $$) aren't "Millionaire" as the OP described. So I was agreeing with a previous poster that corrected the OP's statement. This by no means, mean that I was trying to condone anyone's behavior cause of the amount of $$ they made or their tenure in the league.

I thought it was self explanatory/I hope that helps?

I understood all of that.....that most NFL players are not millionaires as many would describe them (making more than a million a year).  But, even with the league minimum, they are making a ton of cash in a short period of time.

I was not following what you were trying to get at with the following statement:

"And if you're not in the league more than a few years, what difference does it make if you blow it all, by the time your career is over?"

I probably meant to say "If YOU'RE In the league.

Typo. You responded, literally seconds after I wrote, before I could even proof it. LOL

Okay, I went back and read it.

What I was saying was: Short term players who come into the league, and blow their cash (remember, people can spend it as fast as they make), can/will end up broke, cause they're not in the league long enough to keep making $$ from what they've blown earlier. That's just being irresponsible; which is why I said "Who cares". It happens very fast for a lot of these players.

On the lower level, where guys are competing for jobs and are not stars (and their tenure is tenuous), it's not nearly as glamorous as many of us think it is. And if you don't plan for the future, are prudent, you can be out the league with nothing to show for it, but bills.

That's why so many players, file for Bankruptcy [previous high earners] or have to get "Real" jobs (the lower level ones/ career scrubs), after their brief careers.

Usually when you read sports article with the word THUG, it has little bit of  ignorance.

I wish these same people would be vocal about Corporate THUGS who have stolen billions of dollar, ruined millions of people's life and still manage to get away with the crimes with a few " million penalty" .........start giving them death penalty or life in prison like these " other thugs" and it might straighten them out little bit.

Out of wedlock? Of all the victims in this, you're worried about that? Can you stop trolling for five minutes.

Yes, I am concerned for the well being of a child. A baby that will now more than likely grow up without a father presence. SMH, man.

Oh now you're worried about the kid and not pushing your agenda?

The baby is better off without a father like that. Hopefully the mother is a decent human being.

You may be right about the child growing up w/o a father like that. Time will tell. It won't be any easier on the mother though and I can promise you the Patriots are going to fight for every dime that they can get back from that big contract Scarface signed last year.
