Keeping Up With The Bobcats Salary Space

Recommended Posts

The Bobcats can match any offer for Hendo up to 5.4 roughly before going into the luxury tax to retain him. Going to be funny to have a 26-35 win team that's in the luxury tax.

Lol. I'm so ready for that Gordon contract to come off.

Anything more than 5.4, I say just let the man walk and play Gordon. We'd be in position to draft a replacement next year too.

Can NBA players take pay cuts/restructures like in the NFL?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe they can... However, since the NBA features a soft cap (meaning you can go over the cap, but you have to pay extra to the league), no one is ever asked to.

I am 99.9% sure that it is against the CBA for players to restructure a contract. The only way you can take a pay cut is to resign for a lesser amount once your contract is up. It's what Tim Duncan did for the Spurs, and what Dirk is saying that he will do.

I think Richard Jefferson took a paycut to stay with the Spurs a couple years ago. It can happen, just very rare.

Edit, nevermind. He apparently declined a player option and re-signed for less.

    • He’s also 21 years old. I don’t know why fiz is so eager to label him a bust
    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
