Better panther peppers or Jenkins?

Considering them both in their prime, I'd say they were neck and neck.  If I had to choose one on my team, I'll go with positional value and take Peppers.  Jenkins was most certainly not a one dimensional run stuffer though.

Considering the total body of work, Peppers runs away with it.  Aside from that one mysterious season, Peppers has pretty much been the epitome of consistency whereas Jenkins had a few years of kicking ass and then burned out.  Peppers makes me think of the guy who shows up to work every day, punches in his time card, does his job well, punches out and retires to go fly fishing and do other things he actually loves.  Jenkins was the rockstar who flashed brilliantly, went overboard on coke (or cheeseburgers), got disenfranchised with the business, and flamed out.

What you really forget is, that Rod was as shitty as they come when defending the run.

Surely Peppers is the best player of him and Jenkins. But when Jenkins was peaking he was just as good as Peppers. Sadly he was not peaking very long.

Jenkins is by a large margin the best DT who have ever played i Charlotte.

Heh you said basically the same thing I said but more succinctly.  I got distracted halfway through my post and came back to finish it and saw your post after mine loaded.  Great minds think alike :)

He wasn't sh*tty against the run, he just wasn't as good against the run as he was against the pass.

He also wants a NT, he was a UT. So if you're going to blame someone for being sh*tty against the run, blame the nose tackle that lined up beside him.

So are you telling me, that if a team has a lousy run D. Its only because of the NT and have nothing to do with the UT? Come on.

Coleman was a undersized DT who could rush the passer and nothing else.

No I'm saying that you can't blame the Raiders rushing defense on one player. That's essentially what you are implying.

And this isn't even worth arguing because any intelligent person would tell you that the 2X All Pro Coleman was better than Jenkins.

How in the world did you come to that sorry ass conclusion? I have not mentioned Raiders with one word. He got pushed around in the run game because of his size. He was a pure gap shooter and that was pretty much his game.

Dude, you do know Jenkins was a 3x All pro right?

His argument has more holes than Swiss cheese.

Coleman was the main reason deshaun foster had so many career games vs the falcons...

When KJ was in his prime NO ONE RAN ON THE PANTHERS.

Well... Coleman played for the Raiders, considering you didn't seem to know that I doubt your actually even know how Coleman impacted the game.

Yes, I'm aware that Jenkins was a 3X All Pro, I'm also aware that Jenkins  only had three solid years in his career due to injuries. Not to mention playing with Peppers, Rucker, Buckener, Wallace etc... elevated his game.

Coleman was on the decline when he played for the Falcons. When he was with Oakland he was one of the premier defensive tackles in the NFL.

In order to be considered "great", you have to have had more than three good years.

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
