Second Half Observations

Mr. Scot

We saw the OL all last year....and we haven't upgraded. OL talk isn't exactly chicken little talk....

they also sucked the first quarter of the year with Kalil. G and RT play was an issue last year. Issue still.

It is basic football not a scheme issue getting them or not being allowed to gameplan

We did upgrade from last year.  Silatolu was a rookie and Bell was a 2nd year player.  Both have another year of experience which is an upgrade. Williams will be an upgrade over Handgartner.  The offensive line improved over last season without Kalil.  This year Kalil is back and we will be improved.

As for gameplanning or scheme, we are running plays we practiced regardless of how they are defending us instead of trying to scheme to beat them.  We are shuttling folks in and out.  Philly looked bad last week and great last night.  They shouldn't be too happy just like we shouldn't be too sad.  Lets see where we are after next week before we make any proclamations.

He has had plenty of time to learn the playbook having not played.

This is true but as of yet, neither I nor you have seen him play. I'd like to see him run routes and catch passes and prove that he deserves and can earn a roster spot over another WR on the team. However, I'm pretty sure that that he can beat out Pilares, Adams, Bersin and the like. But again, I'd like to see his playmaking abilities to determine, for myself, where he fit in.

Gettis has not caught a ball the last 2 years.

He has not caught a ball against a first string D this preseason.

LaFell? He has been solid against real defenses...and it wasnt yearS ago.

Gettis has not caught a single ball from Cam. LaFell has.

LaFell has pretty much been playing vs. the opponent's no.3 CB his entire career. Nothing great out of that.

I would love to wager my wallet on that Lafell wouldn't have been able to put up the same stats/performances Gettis had the last two preseason games with DA/Clausen throwing him the ball vs. the same group of defenses.

The Gettis fanboys are a really enthusiastic bunch. Here is a guy that is struggling to make the team and has consistently had trouble catching the ball. But he gets to catch some passes against 3rd string d-backs in a couple of games and he now "could be a starter". Unfuging believable. I like the guy and hope he makes the team but come on man.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
