Steve Smith tearing into Armond Smith [video]

Agreed.

I was honestly very surprised when he made the team over Poole. Nothing against Armond as a person, but he proved just how bone headed and detrimental he can be to the team in preseason. Yet we still kept him around.

This is a direct indictment on what Rivera's tenure here has been like. We keep letting these same players on the bottom end of our roster bite us in the ass and cost us games. We cut Nakamura and Fua, and keep this guy.

Just baffles me how we keep doing this to ourselves. I can't be the only one thinking this.

Hmmm....

I'm gonna put this one on the ST coaching staff for not coaching this RB up on the rules of being a gunner on ST. I will couple that with the horrible 1st call and then the corrected 2nd call. I bet he knows the rules now. Neither penalty cost us much tbh. Did they both piss me off? Absolutely... But don't assume a RB that barely made the squad knows the gunning rules when veteran QBs ( a la Mcnabb) didn't even know overtime rules.

Edit: I'd like to add that this was a rule change this year. The gunner doesn't have to come back immediately as before. Now they have to come back in bounds in a "reasonable" amt of time... Fox's expert official disagreed with the first call

If a guy that barely made the squad for special teams purposes doesn't know the rules, what does that say about our staff? Rivera is in his third year and we are still seeing the same silly ass sloppy mistakes we always have.

Remember how we used to repeatedly have too many many on the field? That's fuging coaching man.

I'm through with blaming position coaches for our failures. At the end of the day this is Ron Rivera's team and it all lands at his feet. He's not in his first year anymore man. It's year three. Enough of the excuses. Win, or get out.

In one way I think I the team needs to see a guy like Smith chew him out harshly. Smith makes it clear he wants to win and if you're gonna f that up you need to gtfo. Smith knows what a great team looks like. He's played great teams and he's been on great teams throughout his career. However I also don't think another teammate deserves to be berated that like that. Smith was about to cross that line. That's a place for the coach. Also the refs should have also penalized the Seahawks on that play. But I applaud Smith for trying to bring some accountability to the team. Sometimes you gotta go there.

The Panthers have coaches........?
