Server Upgrade Tonight...

My grandfather gave me my first computer when I was 13, it was an old one that didn't do poo but word processor type of work. So I took it apart to see what was in it, I guess that was my launch into IT nerdem.. pays the bills nicely

Yeah my father who was an engineer at Sprint at the time would take me to the office with him sometimes and just sit me in front of a computer when I was 7 and say.. Have fun. Learn this. It will pay off..

Couldn't stick with the IT stuff in the civilian world because I hate slow computers with an absolute passion and fixing Email and Printer issues drove me insane. Soooo I went with a little more in depth on the hardware side of things and work on all the wires/boxes/relays/avionics of aircraft in the navy eh.. You name it everything is monitored and works off of electricity now a days. I thank that man every day because its like I see 1's and 0's in the matrix when it comes to fixing and troubleshooting this stuff. Definitely made me a very decorated man in the service.

If any of you nerds want to see where IT is headed, check out the link below. Cisco UCS platform is nuts. You can take a chasis that holds 6 - 8 blade servers, with each blade having 60 CPU cores and 1TB of RAM, on a 80gigabit backplane. The amount of poo you can put on one of these is insane as is the amount of I/O it can handle. We have taken our customers entire datacenters and collapsed it down to two of these chasis for redundancy and have tons of room for growth. One chasis alone can easily run 200-300 virtual machines depening on RAM requirements.

The funny thing is, half the guys on here have no clue what we're talking about.

I remember when we got really excited that the processors broke 100MHz.

I also distinctly remember having a conversation with my old boss in which the words

"16MB of RAM!!!  We'll never need more than that..."  were spoken.

On our current refresh, we just ordered 6 servers with 1TB of RAM each.  I'm in sciency nerd heaven.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
