Newton or Rivers

I have a tight matchup this week in FF and I'm climbing up the win column. For my QB's, I have Cam Newton and Phillip Rivers. Rivers has been on a tear the last 2 weeks, but I started Cam against NYG and obviously he put up big numbers. Homerism aside, I have a +2 line in my FF game; should I start Cam in AZ or Rivers at Oakland? My worry with Cam is he can be inconsistent and the AZ corners.

If fantasy football is more important to you than your team go with the projections.

Fantasy Football should have nothing to do with "your" team.

Cam won me a league in FF his rookie season but I passed him up in drafts many times since.  He is one of the few Panthers with a relevant FF presence but you can't reach for him on draft day just because he is your guy, especially in leagues full of Panther fans wanting him also.

AZ defense is no slouch.  WR's will be covered, they will keep a LB as a spy on Cam all day.  Their game plan should be to make our running game beat them, limiting Cam's fantasy potential.

I don't trust Rivers either but his matchup with the Oakland defense is marginally better.

Vick against Giants D sounds like best option.

Second-guessing department;  I hate divisional matchups for big fantasy numbers because both teams know each other so well.  Panther offense has improved each week, they have had bye week to prepare, no big home field advantage in that stadium (not loud).  I'd have to take Cam

Can't make my own thread.

BUT I benched Julius Thomas for Jordan Cameron in both my Leagues this week. Brian Hoyer's injury really screwed me. Maybe Manning will choose to throw to his Many WRs for TDs this weekend to make me feel better?

Ahhhh, who am I kidding. Julius Thomas will pick this week to repeat or top his week one performance.

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
