Would you trade Cam Newton for Cleveland's 2 Number 1 picks?

Jesus Christ guy, do you watch or read anything in the sports world related to Cam. No one is singing his praises. Most analysts and sports writers think he is way below all the other young QBs starting in the league.

There's a few reasons for that, none of them have to do with actually analyzing.

I would trade anyone in the league for two first rounders.  The only two guys that might make me rethink that are old and so youth alone makes the "anyone for two first rounders" a clean sweep no question.

I would take one 1st rounder for Cam right now as long as the pick was in the top 5.  No hesitation.  I like him.  I think he's cool. When he's hot he's smokin'.  There is just something missing.   Something I don't think JR is willing to spend enough money to fix so, logic says cut him loose and wish him well.

hate me if you want.. its not about Cam, its about the Panthers.

This makes no sense.  There's absolutely no reason to trade him for a first.  There are several players on this team that are worth much, much more than a first rounder, and Cam is one of them.

You make it sound like you can easily replace his production with a single first round pick...

I think recent young QB successes have blinded a lot of you guys to how long it can take players to develop in this league.

CelibatePimp... I started this thread...No mods, I am truly a Browns fan that wanted to see what the Panther Fans thought of Cam. The Browns have 2 number 1 picks and I thought that this might be a good deal for everyone involved.  With 3 number 1 picks the Panthers could do some serious damage in the 2014 draft. I know Chud loves Cam and it could be a great fit in Cleveland. Trust me, I hate losing we have been back since 1999 and we have done nothing...I am tired of waiting for next year...I think this trade makes sense for both programs...

I've been been back and forth concerning Cam for a while.  We've seen his potential, but this was suppose to be our playoff year.  Now we are getting a new head coach next year most likely, and I don't know if the next guy will be able to develop Cam anymore than Rivera.  Especially if our next coach is going to be another defensive minded guy.  I would take this trade if offered.

The one reason this trade could possibly happen is because our GM doesn't seem to like the kind of QB Cam has to be in order to be most effective, whereas I think if you give Chud a HC spot where he isn't trying to show off his awesome coordinating while auditioning for one elsewhere, you'd see him completely own with Cam.

But, the reality is that Cam is a franchise player, and a valuable one to the Panthers.  QBs are hard to replace.  This isn't the same as dumping T-Rich on the cheap.

You realize for this to work JR has to shell out big bucks for the following:

Head coach:  one who gets the new age spread rage in the league and will insist on autonomy and be twice as expensive as any head coach we have ever had...$$$

OC: probably the brightest mind on the market who will also be getting interest from low tier teams (like us) for head coach...$$$

QB coach:  A guy who will be talented enough to garner interest from lower tier teams as an OC and demand OC money....$$$

Entirely new Wide receiver corps:  Ginn might be able to stick due to special teams and his wheels and Smitty might stick as a slot if he is willing to take a back seat to two shiny new cyborg bookends... think julio and roddy....$$$$

bye bye running backs:  Will never be able to afford them: we will draft a new guy in the third every year and hope one sticks... think Donald Brown or maybe a barner

bye bye defensive front 7:  Cant afford that either.  The game will be to protect the Cammy Cam and score 45 points every week.  Defense be damned.  Captain Munnerlyn would be a highlight in the backfield we would put together.

Big bucks O-line:  We would have to draft or break the bank to acquire at least 3 pro bowl o-lineman to compliment Kalil and hope like hell that 5th spot can be supplemented by rotation.  It will take too long to get 4 of them before Kalil times out.  $$$

TE:  In the middle of this, the biggest overhaul of any team in history and unprecedented rush to arms, we will need another guy who can do what Olsen does.  Maybe even a guy a bit better than him who can block all day if need be despite his elite athletic ability and ball skills.  (hint: these are the hottest commodities in the league right now as far as skill positions go, and they want the ball, not block for the dancing bear)....$$$

So the three best offensive new-age coaches one can think of... Blow up the D and the run game (contracts.... contracts)... Magically acquire Three pro-bowl lineman, Two freaks of nature receivers and a hall of fame TE... Convince Smitty to play slot behind the new guys or break him off at the knees too. Bye Bye Kuech, Star, and CJ.

How long do you think something like this will take?  Do any of you actually think this is even possible?

And the kicker... considering that even half of this is feasible in the short run who among you actually believe Jerry Richardson is ever gonna even attempt to make a splash this big?

You people just say things that you want or think we need without even considering what it means.
