Injured Reserve, Designated to Return

I was browsing around twitter looking at all of the guys on my feed, so many of them are already on IR and it got me thinking, who and when can we bring someone back?

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Injured-Reserve-rules-need-an-overhaul.html

Permanent IR: Players with a major injury will be put on a team’s Injured Reserve (IR). These players may not return to the active roster for the rest of the season and the club retains their rights. These players are paid their full salaries or a split amount ( usually journeymen and later round picks) as negotiated in their contract.

Short term IR/Designated for Return: A new rule modified in 2012 allows one player per team to be reactivated from the IR list. A player with a major injury placed on the IR list must be immediately “designated for return”. The designated player is eligible to return to the active list if he has been on the IR for at least 8 weeks from the date he is placed on IR.

Waived/Injured: When a team waives an injured player any other team may claim him. If a player clears waivers the player is immediately reverted to IR or the team will negotiate an injury settlement to allow the player to pursue other opportunities with another club.

So I can't find anything on a player we have designated to return, this leads me to believe we haven't. If someone gets injured this weekend and we give them the designation they will return 8 weeks later or week 16...the end of the season. Not a total waste if we make the playoffs but perhaps a waste if we are out of it by week 14.

So here is the deal, can we bring back one of our other guys or is this designated rule very stringent?

Bruce Campbell

Jimmy Clausen

Linden Gaydosh

Charles Godfrey

Edmund Kugbila

Kealoha Pilares

Amini Silatolu

RJ Webb

Garry Williams

Michael Zordich

That is our current list on the IR. Do we want any of these guys back? Personally I wish we could bring back Kugbila and get him some reps for next year. Other than that I see all significant injuries or scrub players. I'm not sure how much gray area there is because last year I was sure David Gettis was done for the year and then he popped up on the active roster for 2 games.

    • They are 1 and 9 against the  Bucs in the past 10 games. the Panthers go as young goes.  QB1 ‘s are suppose to dictate and overcome  and elevate Everything the QB does affects every part of the team and Bryce is uneven. Canales and Bryce have  an uneven relationship too  as for Evero, the only thing that might save him is the injury to Baker’s left shoulder and oline injuries. I don’t even know how he is out there   I really feel their season ended last Sunday Canales’ division record isn’t great   Getting owned by the Saints and Bucs isn’t a good look
    • Frankly surprised by the amount of people that want to hang Evero. This was a defense that was almost universally considered the bottom of the barrel before this season started. We’ve managed to stat our way to the middle of the pack whatever that means. Those critical of the zone schemes, what do you want? When even JC is getting burnt one on one by Olave you have little choice. There definitely have been moments where the zone blitz stuff has bit us. That said, are the third string linebackers (and nick Scott) covering poo anyway? This unit had only conceded 10 points going into the fourth quarter despite a litany of bullshit penalties on both sides. Them over performing is the biggest reason we are still in playoff contention.
