what 49er fans are saying

Comparing the two rookie campaigns, Luke got the nod over Willis. Luke finished with a higher grade in coverage over Patrick.

DVOA and PFF my man. Willis was 45th. Incidentally, while Willis was number one in coverage last year, he still gave up more coverage TDs than Luke.

Brohem, PFF only goes back to 2008. Patrick was a rookie in 2007, so I don't know where you see that?

And Kuechly graded negatively in coverage his rookie year.

And Willis gave up 1 TD pass last year, Keuchly gave up 2.

Not sure where you are getting your info at brohem, but Kuechly wasn't better than Willis in any category. QBs had almost 100 passer rating when Kuechly was in coverage, when Patrick was in coverage they barely had over a 70. He's a talented kid, but not at Willis level.

I suggest you look over their articles. All three had him ranked number one overall. Kuechly already demands spies. He's on Willis' level.

The mere fact that Raven fans compared Kuechly to Lewis is more than enough for me.

Look at the attachment above. Are you talking about Bowman, because everything you've said about Willis hasn't been true? Not arguing, just asking here.

You do understand that in football there is an ILB (Inside Linebacker) that plays in a 3-4 defense, and a MLB (Middle or Mike Linbacker) thats plays in a 4-3. These for all intense and purposes are two very different positions. Willis is no longer an MLB since the switch to a 3-4 defense. Please know what your talking about before you try to discredit any player in the NFL.

I respect your love for your team however.

Yes I do. I misspoke when I said Willis was a MLB. But, they both play inside of the defense, and sites like PFF have 4-3 MLB and 3-4 ILB's graded in the same categories.

I'm not discrediting anyone, I'm saying that while Kuechly is good, Willis is better. I think objectively about my team, but there's no doubt Willis is better at this point.

Still can't really compare 4-3 and 3-4 MLB's.  Completely different schemes and players that excel in them.

I would say that Keek is prob the best 4-3 MLB and Willis the best 3-4 MLB in the game.

Our bye came at the perfect time if you ask me. We have been hit really hard with the injury bug this season and the bye helped us immensely in that regard.

Although, both 49er message boards contain their fair share of ridiculous posters, I'd give the edge to 49erswebzone...They are pretty terrible over there.

http://forums.49ers.com/forumdisplay.php?20-The-Red-Zone <---More logical fans on this board.

I doubt Teddy Ginn could offer you guys anything useful. The dude was a terrible pass catcher and was regulated strictly to ST. It is good to see him finally able to live out his dream/desire to be a WR. I just hope he doesn't burn us deep because I'm sure yall will try it.

He has one dropped pass this year and like every other receiver, is on pace for 600-700 yards. I think this week will be the week Olsen and the tight ends are involved to slow down the pass rush. We failed to throw screens against the Cardinals pressure.

Well, if a site like PFF says they can be compared, I'd say it's safe to do so.

And I'd say Bobby Wagner is the best 4-3 MLB, but that's splitting hairs. I like LK, drafted him on one of my fantasy teams that employ a defensive player.

I think both teams are incredibly similar.  The Niners have gotten all of the hype.  But, they are no better than the Panthers and their wins have come against losing teams just like the Panthers have.

Both have good run game....both have nasty D's.  It will come down to who plays better (Kap or Cam)...who makes the fewest mistakes and who makes a couple of plays.

Would not be surprised if turnovers and special teams decided this game.

Those Niner fans reek of homerism.. nearly all think they are going to blow us out by 30 or 40 points

Yeah seriously, it's one thing to think you're team will win but some of the scores they are saying like 59-10 niners is ridiculous homerism and doesn't give the panthers the respect they deserve.

I hope they keep it up though. That board has a decent chance of being ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS come Sunday evening.

I agree.  I'm thinking there will be one turnover that will be the difference maker in the game.

That or we just totally outclass them and win by double digits.

    • If Canales comes back and Bryce doesn’t I would probably prefer to bring in 3 guys he likes from around the league or maybe outside a top ten pick and work through them, give that a shot. Because if we win a few more games we won’t be in the running for the top rated QB prospects anyway.
    • You mean tepper but yeah I agree about rhule   Baker is a top 3 potential qb that is play for mvp and he is doing it with a slew of injuries
    • There’s too many to reply to so I’ll just say a couple more things then I’m out: 1. It hasn’t been both ways and that’s the point. People saying stuff like “too bad Bryce Young didn’t make that tackle” is a direct result of the ridiculousness of blaming Bryce Young for literally everything. I remember one game day thread a poster unironically blamed Bryce Young for JT Sanders flipping onto his own neck and injuring himself. That post was pied. I literally just read a post blaming Bryce Young for XL dropping a ball on a would-be game winning drive last year. This past week, when Tmac bounced a ball off his hands for an interception, Bryce Young was immediately blamed in the game day thread. Alternatively, people who try to give credit to Bryce Young are immediately told that to credit Bryce Young is taking away credit from Rico Dowdle, OL, whoever, and that they shouldn’t be talking positively about Bryce Young because he doesn’t deserve any credit. 2. Yes, there have always been bad posters, the difference is that back then they were largely derided. Bryce Young’s rookie season, when many of us were simply pointing at the train wreck of the whole team and saying it was maybe a little tough to evaluate Bryce Young when he had no time to throw and slow receivers, and just saying basic stuff like “Bryce Young can physically throw the ball further than 20 yards.” There was an attempt made to limit all those opinions to a single thread, by a mod. This is like saying lunatics running the asylum is normal because there have always been lunatics in the asylum. The difference is before they were patients, now they’re in charge. 3. I know for a fact I am labeled as one of the “Bryce Stans” by many of the usual suspects, but the fact of the matter is they have no idea what my position is on Bryce Young because any attempts at nuanced discussion in the past have been so completely pointless due to never being able to get past the hyperbole. How can we have a serious conversation if you insist he is physically incapable of throwing a football 20 yards? Or if you insist that he somehow duped the Panthers into drafting him just by drinking water? Or if you insist that he should be able to succeed behind one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen (rookie year, not now). And I’m not the only one, there are many who have left the huddle because of it and started a discord server, I’m just too lazy for another app.
