All of you Shula haters

Need to beat it. The man is doing a great job with a very balanced offense. Once again almost the same amount of passes, 32 as rushing attempts, 30. We have the most balanced O in the league. Just stop it. You were and are still wrong. Shula is 10x better than Chud. Tired of all ur bitching on the game day threads. There is no such thing as perfection, so stop demanding it. But there is such a thing as a good OC, and Mike Shula is that.

That DeAngelo TD run was a thing of beauty; a fake option roll out with Cam and LaFell going one way while he slips the ball to DeAngelo who then goes the other way? The 49ers defense was legitimately faked out of their boots, and even though DWill had to shake a few tackles to score that play sprung him.

We were also producing yardage today, just had a lack of player execution with drops and untimely sacks. Clean up a few mistakes and we could have hung 20 on them.

I've just accepted that we aren't gonna beat anyone passing the ball

meh, maybe not in blowout fashion, but cam's on pace for his best year statistically in everything but raw passing yards. in that sense we're actually beating teams better by passing than we have in the entirety of the cam newton era

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
