If they get Clowney we better counter with a good O-lineman.

 

Clowney?  You talkin' 'bout Jadeveon Clowney?  The guy who was labeled the best defensive player on the planet after his sophomore year of college?  The guy who has exactly TWO sacks this season against college competition?  He hasn't had a sack since mid-September.  Yeah, consider me officially not concerned about that guy.  Hell, I HOPE they draft him.  Dude has BUST written all over him.

Maybe because they mortgaged their entire franchise future on Julio Jones.  Julio is a tremendous WR, but they paid an extremely high price to get him.  When you look around their roster and see all those holes, you can look back at that trade as the primary reason as to why they couldn't address those roster short comings.  They don't need another Julio.  They need a successor to Gonzo at TE as well as OL and DL help.  If they drafted another WR with their 1st rounder this year, I literally might die of laughter.

 

Ironic that the two teams who have both made blockbuster trades to acquire marquee guys and who had success last year and were praised for those moves both suck unwashed mule ass this year.

:lol: Clowny as of right now is a complete joke. The guy hasn't lived up to hype all year. Yes I know the guy will go first round. But it want be top 5. The has been avg this year.

 

Skill-Set Summary: Clowney has a rare skill set with elite speed, strength and athleticism. He also has incredible explosion off the snap. The junior is lightning fast coming off the edge and has natural power to shed blocks. Clowney has already developed an arsenal of pass-rushing moves. He also seems to have the ability to get some sacks simply on the basis shear intimidation. 
 
Clowney is extremely strong at taking on offensive linemen on run. He is a stout defender at the point of attack and maintains his gap. Clowney routinely charges through the line to blow up runs in the backfield.
 
Typically, first-round pass rushers have one of Clowney's skills with elite speed or mismatch strength. It is extremely rare for a player to be as fast as a speed-rusher and the power of a physical player. For a comparison and reference to the 2013 draft, Clowney's explosiveness looks similar to Barkevious Mingo with similar power and physicality to Datone Jones. 
 
Clowney is the complete package and a once-in-a-generation-type defender. There are times where his game looks reminiscent of Lawrence Taylor or Reggie White. 
 
2014 NFL Draft Expectations: Clowney currently looks like he could turn into the best defensive prospect to enter the NFL 2014 Draft this century, with the possible exception of Ndamukong Suh in 2010. The phenom Clowney is NFL ready and head coach Steve Spurrier said the junior was ready to turn pro coming out of high school. He has been as good as advertised after dominating the SEC the past two seasons. Clowney is the "Andrew Luck" of defensive draft prospects; a high-pick lock who is extremely coveted by every team in the NFL and a safe selection to turn into an elite franchise player. 
 
Clowney is so impressive, some teams could consider passing on a franchise quarterback for him. Even if his numbers decrease this season from all the extra blocking potential, he still should go at the top of the 2014 NFL Draft as long as he stays healthy and doesn't get into any off-the-field trouble.

Back then, all the site contained were picks and power rankings. Since then, I've gradually added more features. After high school, the site became a hobby. When I switched my major to journalism, I turned the site into something on my resume. Eventually, it became a full-time gig.

 

In synopsis, this guy has no more credentials than a message board poster in terms of analyzing football.  He just regurgitates what the talking heads say on ESPN and the NFL Network and has found a way to make a living off of that.  Props to him for that, but anyone who takes that site seriously is a fuging moron.

I can understand why people aren't a fan of ESPN and other "mainstream" sports media sites but literally every scouting report ever on Clowney is that he's an amazing pick, consensus top 5.

Every single year there are busts and steals in the draft.  It's an inexact science at best.  All I know is that Clowney's stats this year are those of a guy who would be laughed at if he even entertained the idea of entering the draft early if it wasn't for the season he had last year.  Hell, RG3 was gonna take over the NFL world according to the media based on his season last year.  How's that going for him this year?  About like Clowney's season is going for him.  Hype doesn't mean poo.  It all comes down to production on the field.

Clowney got owned by Lewan (one-on-one) last year. That was a huge test in my opinion. Look, I'm not gonna call him a bust because we honestly don't know what he is yet but he's clearly overhyped and/or he's let hype get the better of him. At this rate, Clowney will go in the Top 25, not in the Top 5-10.

 

If he puts up big numbers at the combine like most think he will, he'll go top 10.  Maybe even top 5.  But, this guy is reminiscent of Vernon Gholston IMO.  A guy who will primarily be drafted based on potential and raw physical talent.  As teams have game planned around Clowney, he has simply not adapted.  If college teams can essentially eliminate him from the game, NFL teams will have no issue of doing that. 

 

Hell, I'm not sure if it's fair to compare Clowney to Gholston.  Gholson's stats improved leaps and bounds every year in college.

So far this year he has 33 tackles, 23 solo, and 2 sacks.

 

Right now, Clowney is a guy living off of the hype of a play where he blew up a Michigan RB in the backfield.  Nice play, but c'mon... the guy is shitting the bed this year.
