One answer that may already be on the roster (BR haters, beware)

did this thread really just get ruined because a poster can't understand what the word "may" means?

not surprising.

We're dealing with TheRed here...

"Ruined" is relative. Many get off on the exchanges in derailed threads. TBH, I am kind of conflicted about it. ***LOL*** I knew that I probably should have let it stay the course---keep it hopeful and positive about a rookie that was fairly productive at the collegiate level---but sometimes you just feel like "getting back" with gratuitous trolling.

TheRed is right about one thing: I did back pedal from keeping on the subject---being hopeful that King will provide an "answer" for us in the passing game.  Who knows?

2 things hinder young receivers with our offense:

- it features packaged plays. You might be forced to run block or catch a pass on any snap and its determined by the coverage. They have to know how to read them correctly every single time.

- it requires actual run blocking skills. No merely getting in the way, you have to physically outmatch your opponent consistently.

If King or McNutt or whoever we get learns to do these things they'll play, otherwise they won't. It the same reason Barner still isn't getting looks, his pass protection failings keep him sidelined until they improve.

And Steve Smith was a 3rd rounder who was taken for his return abilities above all else. What is your point? That diamonds in the rough don't exist? That steals in the draft don't exist? I look at it the same way the OP is. He is a solid receiver (at least, was in college) who got drafted by a team that has TONS of talent at the receiver position. Denver has drafted GOOD receivers. They evaluate the WR position pretty well, based on who they have there. So, I have to believe this guy is good. Why we haven't activated him is anybody's guess, but to say he can't be that good just because he hasn't been activated is asinine.

I'm not saying he is definitely going to be our savior at the position and I do want us adding talent there if we can in the offseason. My point is, your reason for discrediting him is ridiculous.

You are one dumb motherfuger if you read my post and came away with that. The only message of the post was not to use this kid as an excuse to not draft top tier WR talent in the upcoming draft(s). It would be utterly stupid to bet this kid, that hasn't made an active roster, would be our future number one, or two, or even three at this point. We've had too many mid-round receivers fail to bank on this kid working out.

As stated I hope he gets a real shot, and makes it. But again, I'm not betting on it, and I would still advocate for using high draft picks on a WR in the next few drafts. If not we're just gambling with our future seasons, Smith isn't going to last forever.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
