Any chance we will not renew with Wofford for training camp?

I like the facility and figure it is a win-win situation for all parties. As long as Richardson is around, I suspect it will be there as well. Maybe they won't sign another 15 years but at least 5 more years probably longer.

Yeah, if Richardson survives the year then there is no way that the team does not renew. I think its pretty obvious that he cares about tradition more than dollar signs and the organization is built around that mantra.

Wofford is actually one of the best training camp setups in all the league.

So says Peter King:

Its just a good setup with the hill and the close parking and the kids area right there. I take the kids down to the first day of practice every year, and then hit 1 or 2 more before its over with.

I hope they move it. Charlotte is the home and is the most central location that makes sense in the Carolinas. It's pretty much right in the middle for everyone in both states. If they don't want to have it at the practice fields, then have it at Davidson or later at UNCC when the football program is up and running. Even JCSU would work. Richardson can still make the players stay in the dorms like he does at Wofford.

I don't expect it to move though.

Jerry stroked a $1,000,000.00 check to upgrade the facility just last year. Does that sound like he plans on moving?

I read that and thought the exact same thing. He plans to upgrade Winthrop while providing a great training camp atmosphere. It isn't going anywhere. It is hot though!!!!!!

being that I am in Wilimington, i'd like to see it move to UNCW. people who make the trip would also be getting a beach vacation. they won't be moving though.

I wasn't aware that training camp was for the fans, I thought it was for the players to learn their plays and improve their working as a unit for the season. But hey, I do love the Wilmington area, my sister has a condo on Wrightsville.

I'm sure the staff would rather the players not have the distraction of being at the beach while they're trying to learn the playbook...

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
