Letter to Cam Haters and Doubters

People weren't crazy to criticize Cam today.  He made some bad throws, held the ball way too long on others.   I know the line is terrible, the playcalling is meh, and he apparently was a little hurt, but you have to hit wide open receivers, that is what the great QBs do.   I don't know who has told him to not run, but they need to shut up, if he's healthy he needs to be running 30-40 yards to help this team out.

Benching is a bit extreme but to be honest, before that last drive Cam looked like he checked himself out of the game.

He limped off the field two drives in a row, the camera kept showing him getting attention and grimacing on the sideline, and the announcers commented that he seemed to be hurt.  I call that grit and determination.  Brees didn't look sharp once the rain started and I thought he's supposed to be a great QB?  Or nah?

Sons of North Carolina! Of South Carolina! My brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come when the courage of Cam fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of Cam comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand! Cam of the Panthers!

I know all that.  However, everyone on the field is playing hurt.  That is football.  Looking at Cam's face before that last drive, it looked like he checked out of the game.  Brees didn't check out, he just was having issues throwing in the rain.   Like I said, benching is extreme.

Hopefully this game convinces Gettleman to draft a receiver in the 1st round. Cam did sail some passes, but almost on every snap the Saints rushed 5-6 players and played man to man coverage. If we had a probowl caliber receiver he would have torched their secondary. I looked at the replays, most of the time the Panthers' WRs were blanketed. Also the play calling was horrible.

They both were throwing in the same conditions, but Cam's bad throws were due to him being "checked out" and Brees was due to the rain?  Gotcha.

You said he wasn't running... common sense, you need your legs to run, he limped off the field, therefore maybe your face reading skills should have figured out if his legs were hurt.

He looked checked out, so face reader, what does it mean when he puts a towel around his head on the sidelines?

But, the best part is that your face reading skills are obviously terrible, since our QB who checked out was sharper than he'd been all game and directed the winning drive while all checked out, if he does that while checked out, he just may end up being the GOAT.

I'm not a hater and I don't consider myself a doubter of Cam. Cam is a very good and will be a great QB, but a lot of his throws today were high and would've been conversions if they were thrown properly. I finally said in the 4th that I was now ready to pull Cam. However, this was after Cam was injured. I'd rather pull Cam with a minor injury than risk a more serious injury. However, Cam was able to pull it out with his best throws of the game. Cam didn't do a lot of running today, so it doesn't seem to me that Anderson couldn't handle what Cam was seeing from the defense. There is no right or wrong decision on keeping Cam in the game with an injury while he's obviously making errand throws or pulling Cam because of the injury, prevention of further injury and errand throws. Hind sight is always 20/20...

It rained for one quarter.  I'm not making a judgement on one quarter.  I understand rain changes things but you are trying to just "guess"  that I'm talking about rain when I am not.  How about the 4th when he had a couple key overthrows?  Or holding on to the ball too long?  I still think the guy has all the talent, he just has to cut out those overthrows, it has been a problem all year.  So yes, combined with his face and his play, it "looked" like he checked out.  Who knows for sure?  All we know is, when you add up what we DO know, we can make a conclusion with the facts provided.   I know he was sore and hurt but so was that defense giving it all, ALL game.  I've been a Cam supporter from the beginning but I'm also not blind to homerism, or the facts.  If we want to become an elite team year by year he has to hit wide open receivers, I don't know how anyone can argue this fact?
