Give up a 2015 1st round pick for franchise WR?

I don't know who is who in the class of 2104, but still I don't believe there is such a thing as a franchise WR. We can get a beast WR in later rounds. I'd rather see more pressing needs addressed like Oline and secondary with a 1st round pick

I would say that, but the wr corps needs work, we need two high round wr picks

I think the OL and Cam complement each other. Cam does have time in the pocket. Nothing I hate to see more than a beautiful play-action and Cam having 7 seconds in the pocket and no one come open. I think the OL can easily get beefed up in free agency as we're now an attractive organization for vets to try to get their ring. The rich gets richer. WRs in free agency are too expensive and not many available this year, so the draft is our best bet. We need a young stud like Watkins(and maybe a 3rd rounder) to grow with Cam for the next 10 years. I think giving up a 2015 1st rounder for a cheap stud WR is less risky than signing a proven vet for 10-12 mil.

I am sorry but, Cam having 7 seconds in the pocket is a rare sight. We also have trouble running the ball. Our O-line needs some help. Amini coming back should help some. But Wharton is having a fine year, so that doesn't help our right side. We HAVE to fix the right side of our line. It makes everything we want to do easier.

Sure, having a Stud #1WR is a top need. But unless we fix the line, our Offense will struggle, even with a top WR.

Keeping Cam upright, and being able to run the ball, is more important than a shiny new WR. Fix the line first, then upgrade the skill positions.

Just my opinion. But hellz, I've been saying we are a very good team for a year and a half now. So what do I know?

We must draft a WR in the first round this year, and possibly next. If we don't we risk having nothing but mediocre, rookie, WR core when Smith is gone.

Our O-Line and DB situation isn't ideal, but with some signings and smart drafting we should be able to put together a more than serviceable core. Especially if our O-Line stays healthy next year.

Sure we need some help at WR. But, unless we fix the line, we will still struggle against good Defenses. Personally, I would love to add a Stud LT in FA. Spend some money on a youngish stud. Move Gross to RT for a few more years. Amini at LG, and move Wharton to RG.

Too many folks seem to be under the impression that just adding a stud WR will fix our Offensive problems. Unless we upgrade the line, our Offense will continue to struggle.

We may not need to use the draft on the line, but we HAVE to upgrade it. Good defenses show us how much our line needs to improve.

Although I will say this. That last drive yesterday was a thing of beauty. The Line did a fabulous job. Where was that all game?

It's our most glaring need. It's becoming so obvious that most mocks are having us take a WR in the first, and every week for the last couple months even our game commentators have stated that our WRs weren't getting open enough for Cam. it especially apparent when Cam is scrambling, running sideline to sideline, and can't find an open target. I feel Cam could make those Wilson throws if he just had more targets coming open.

Uh, it was soft coverage so our WRs came open. Cam was actually hit a lot of those throws.

Sorry to say this. But...on that last drive, the only guy to touch Cam was Jenkins on the TD play. If Tolbert had not chipped him, who knows what happens. It was a great drive by the line.

Of course the aints helped us out by not blizting. But the line did a fabulous job on that drive.

Does someone have a video that's not YouTube? I could be completely wrong, but I recall Cam's arm being hit on a couple throws.

Though the reason our guys got open was because they stopped playing pressed coverage (Rollover Ron style) on our final drive. They blitzed on the touchdown play, that's why Tolbert had to make a crucial chip block, but again I haven't watched a video of the final drive since Sunday so I could be completely wrong.

ya youre feeling it today Hubs.

. . and besides, what are the odds that a WR pick even pans out? That in itself is gamble. . THEN factor in how long it might take before he's productive.

we need a CB, WR, LT (either Gross retires or we move him to RT next year) right now we're an elite team, but if we can fix those 3 holes i think we will be an elite team for a while. i would go WR in the first round (lots of talent in this class) and get the best LT available in round 2. if we can get gross to come back as a RT we now have a pretty solid O-Line with draft pick, wharton, kalil, amini, gross. assuming we get someone like watkins, lee, evans, benjamin, matthews i'd be more than satisfied with a receiving corps of stud draft pick, smith, ginn, hixon (assuming we dont pay lafell) meaning we either address CB with either our 3rd round pick or in FA.

As soon as the wife leaves for work I'll rewatch that drive. I'll get back to you on that. But from memory. I recall Cam having a clean pocket the whole drive. Best blocking of the game. But they didn't blitz until that last play. So that did help us.

Stupid on their part, but hellz bellz. Peyton did a bunch of those yesterday.

Well right now it looks like a lot of teams will be taking an OT in the first, while possibly only three WR will be taken. I think it makes more sense to take a WR in the first and then a OT in the second.
