While Newton struggles against top passing defenses, Kaepernick is worse

You do realize Kaepernick was 8-4 without him. They can win without him. 5-0 with him, which doesnt bode well for opposing defenses. Not bad really for a guy in his first full year as starter.

Isnt this Cam's 3rd year as a fulltime starter? How good was he during his first full year as a starter against those defenses? He probably got better eh?

I find it humorous you think the 49ers are not a good road team at all, when my most talking heads consider them the best road team in the nfl. THey went 7-2 this year so far. 8-1 if a call gets called correctly. And though its just 2 games, the 49ers and Kaepernick are undefeated on the road in the playoffs. But It isnt Kaepernick vs the panthers, its 49ers vs panthers, and 49ers are a stout road team except in seattle for some reason.

You play who you are scheduled to play. Panthers havent played a top team defense in the playoffs either.

Arizona is one of them, believe it or not and the 49ers are 2-0 against them.  they went 1-1 vs seattle and lost to carolina.  So they are actually 3-2. Carolina scored twice on the 49ers, and once because they got the ball in 49er territory.  It will be a tough, tough game on D.  Both Ds are stout, both offenses have struggled.  That much is not debatable.  The differences are the intangibles like playmakers the 49ers have that they didnt in week 10.  The difference is one team is doing this for the first time, the other team has played in like 7 or 8 playoff games.    

 

You have to look for what separates these two teams because they both have bad ass D and inconsistent offense.  So saying  Kap might struggle is nice and all, but so will Cam.  So any advantage carolina has on D is negated by the same defensive advantage the 49ers have.  That's a pretty objective thing to say.

I actually think the difference in this game is which QB does the best job on broken plays.

Be it with their arms or feet.

From all the interviews it seems like 49ers just want revenge and Panthers just want to win. Saying that 49ers will come out trying to hard and too hype and to anxious and making dumb plays like over running plays. Panthers are more poised right now and focused. QBR is out the window, last game is last game and whats now is now. 49ers will be blitz happy but best believe the Panthers have worked on picking up the blitz and creating holes and pockets for Cam to step up into. Panthers are ready whereas the 49ers just got over switching time zones the 3 times in a week and playing in a physical exhausting game against the Packers. Expect it to be a brutal, violent, smash mouth, flag throwing, fist throwing game. There will be tempers and might be ejections. Expect Smitty to be in the middle of them. Final score Panthers Win 49ers go home and enjoy popcorn.

And one wonders how much better those stats would be if Cam was under center of the 49ers insteadof the Panthers. A rreality many seem way to happy to ignore. I guess that's because he's not Luck.

i think most people already know, especially 9ers fans.  i mean just look at how many weapons they have now and how many we never had(according to them and many others), and Cam was/is still the superior QB.

I'm not arguing Carolina has been overly impressive.

Just that this recent media blitz that San Fran is suddenly this juggernaut that should win.....is bogus.

As far as our losses go. We had Sea. Fumbled the game away.

We had Buff as well.

Cam was carving up AZ but no WR could catch that day and then it imploded late.

So 3 of our 4 losses IMO don't show a concern. The Aints lined up in spanked us Sun night in the dome. We aren't built for that game in those conditions. No team left presents that though.

I say this game is a coin flip with an ever so slight edge to Carolina.....bc it is a home game and Cam is better than CK. Weapons, OL and all that aside.....he is better right now. I bet that way since overall the teams are so even.
