What will Cam do

If Cam does not like the 15Mill per year for 5 years like in my scenario, then he can play the next two on rookie money and the following two on franchise money.  Guess 4 yrs and 60 would be better.  And if he blossoms further, then we can always up and extend it further.

You just don't overpay on potential to be elite.

And the gauntlet is thrown. Cam's new contract will be based on his past, and what can be expected in the future. So potential will have some bearing on the deal.

Let's be real here. Cam lost nearly 30mil on his rookie deal. Maybe he fells with how he's played, and where he expects to be, he deserves that money? He wants his 20mil a year, NOW. How do we respond to that?

That said. Cam is not your ordinary QB. He gots this.

Brady, Manning, Brees got their big money AFTER super bowls and such, not after their first winning season.

I totally understand that the fan base is emotional about each player, especially their QB, but I do not attach my emotions toward any one player, but the entire team.  I look at it as sinking too much in one area and not being able to afford another.

Brady is dealing with college practice team players for heavens sake and washed up, bargain basement FA's.  Brees will also be losing more weapons as his contract is sucking up space.  Manning is the luckiest as he has several good targets.  Cam getting HUGE money before winning in the postseason is the wrong step in my opinion.  If I were GM, I might extend him for 5 yrs at 15 per with the agreement that if he reaches certain levels of production/winning, we redo the contract.

I don't see anyone as Losing 30 million just because of the old CBA.

I just hope Gman is not emotional in his dealings.  Hurney seemed to be, Jerry Jones and Snyder definitely are.  My hopes are that Gman will stick to his guns and have the whole team in mind.  You cannot pay each Panther like they are the tops at their position each time their contract comes up but you see "pay the man" over and over here.

Rember all the "Double Trouble" ain't going nowhere threads from a couple years back.  Emotion, how'd that turn out?

yeah look at everyone getting emotional over the most important position on the field

also if it needs to be explained to you why dropping a big contract on a franchise quarterback is different from breaking the bank on two running backs then...

Two points.. Cam is already rich. Some would argue from even before we drafted him. He's branded himself about as well as you possibly can. One more winning season while saying and doing all the right things and that would absolutely explode.

Second.. Cam has already expressed his interest in playing his career here. He seems sincere about that. Having a good owner helps. I don't understand the him being handicapped by being here. He's been fairly vocal about his appreciation for his teammates and his coaches..

With that said... Don't ruin it all by trying to low ball him. He's proved himself and he's earned his big pay day. 7 years 126 mil is at least in the area code..

richardson, gettleman, and the coaching staff have endorsed him.

piece of advice: if you can't stand the thought of cam possibly being our long-term starter at quarterback, then you should probably grab a bottle of old crow, throw on your matt moore jersey, go in to the spare room where you keep your john fox commemorative plate collection, and give a lot of thought to becoming a cowboys fan.
