2014 NFL MOCK OFF-SEASON: CAROLINA-CHUCK

I'll let Gettleman figure that one out. lol

But, I think that Gross, Mitchell, Gano, Wharton, and Ginn will make more than what you listed.

I think Nicks will get around (5-6mil) and Im assuming that we sign him to a 1-2 yr deal. Tilllman will probably get a 1yr/4-5 mil; 4.5 could get him here.

I also stated that current players will have to help fix their contracts in order to get this scenario done.

Yep, you posted as I was editing. So 10M before the resturctures, could be possible. If anything we both proved DG has his work cut out for him. If he is able to do 80% of what we are hoping we should be very competitive again next year.

This would be an amazing offseason. I freakin LOVE Lee at 28, but I do wonder how realistic it is that he falls so far. I will say that we do have some history in our favor in that I believe the most WR taken in the first in recent memory was only like 4? So.... maybe there is a fair chance.

Crap, nevermind about 4 being the most WR taken in the first round in recent memory:

2013 - 3

2012 - 4

2011 - 3

2010 - 2

2009 - 6

2008 - 0

2007 - 6

2006 - 1

2005 - 6

2004 - 7

2003 - 3

Hopefully this is not another 6+ first round WRs.

I dont think it will. I think itll be three WR (Watkins, Evans, Lee) for sure and the three TEs (Ebron, Amaro, ASJ).

Great job putting this together! However, here's the problem I see.

1) If we sign Nicks and Tillman as FA's why would we then draft a WR and CB as our top 2 picks?

2) Keeping Hardy and signing our FA's and the ones you mentioned is next to impossible.

3) Cutting Williams makes drafting a RB a priority, Stewart and Barner at the top of the depth chart makes our Offense worse.

I would prefer Moses at #28 or trading down for a second and third, then get a WR, RB, OT and CB. So much depends on FA signing period but it will give us a better idea of the draft.

I would love for this offseason to happen and I think gettleman has shown that he can make a lot happen with little cap space.

I am honestly not crazy about Joyner but I also haven't studied up on him, so I may be wrong. Otherwise I like the draft.

I thought that having McNutt on the roster over king was an interesting but who really knows at this point.

To me Tillman is a temporary band aid because of his age and expense and smith will retire soon and we will need a guy who can step in within the next 2 years. That's why you draft a CB and a WR so they have time to grow and aren't pressured to produce instantly.

Yes I understand that, but 1st and 2nd rounders should be starters not projects.

I disagree with 3. The RB'S position is quickly becoming a lower valued job. If you have a solid Oline you could put a UFA or a low round pick back there and be ok. You don't need a Adrian Peterson to have a good running game anymore.

With Cam RB should never be a high priority.

Here's why:

Imo, WR and CB are the two biggest needs atm. OT is right there with it, but WR and CB were the reasons why we loss to SF.

Agent 89 has reached the father days. There's no way that we are going to depend on him to win us game anymore. Atm, Smitty is a good "no.3" receiver. I think that he's going to lose even more steps next season. Fans like myself are not going to be ready to see how old Smitty will look next season.

Tillman will be 33 in February and like others have said already, is a one year ban-aid similar to Florence this past season. Also, I stated that Lamarcus Joyner will be plug at "FS/nickle CB" similar to Vaccaro and Mathieu. Both Lee and Joyner are drafted to play right away, not to be backups.

RB will be a priority due to cutting DWill, but that's why I have us taking a RB late in the draft: Antonio Andrews. And, Tolbert is pretty much a running back.

I'm not sure that Morgan Moses can even beat out Byron Bell this season.

I don't think Lee makes it to 28th and I really wouldn't draft another D lineman this year. Don't know much about Joyner but I would go secondary early in the draft. I love the FA moves.

You guys are going to love Joyner. I'm not even sure that Joyner will fall this late in the draft, but I'm just "hoping". Really, I would not mind taking Joyner at no28.

The kid is smaller, but he plays a lot like a safety. He has a nasty vertical jump which help him play against taller receiver. Joyner is a violent hitter, great in run support/coverage, ballhawker, and a dangerous returner.

(Check out his nasty hop at 1:50)

I feel good with Smitty, Nicks and Ginn when we go to a 3 WR set. I dont feel good banking Hurst will last until our 3rd pick and having 2 backs that gained less than 200 yds rushing and no TD's last year.
