What does Greg Olsen know about his teammates anyway, that liar.

The thing is he could have chosen other choice media friendly words. He was pretty emphatic. I also noticed a quick change to another topic after he said that. Don't get the reasoning behind "oh he's just playing to the media." That was anything but that.

Deangelo went on first take and said the same thing. Cam is a divisive person. If you take away the weird wordings he says the exact same kind of things Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers say in press conferences. The moping thing and distraught looks are the difference. But that's who he is. He looked unnerved after the 9ers and it was exactly what I wanted to see.

The suggestion box was the only thing that made me say come on man

it's what you mean by change that irritates people. it's overblown in people's OPINIONS.

and i wish i was chummy with greg...dat beard!

I do not know why people get irritated; it is one man's opinion.

I work in higher education, and you state your perspectives with factual support and everyone understands that it is a supported opinion,  Nobody gets mad or angry--they offer counterpoints, but they understand that their degree of logic and analytical aptitude are scrutinized in these circles.  Telling someone that they are wrong because most people think they are is not stating a counter point, it is suggesting that a person is ruled by the laws of conformity and does not challenge the status quo.  The idea is to challenge widely-held concepts to refocus your own opinion.  My mind is not narrow because I changed my perspective when Cam changed.  That is all I was stating.  But because people took my comments about Cam so personally, I immediately had to go on the defensive.  If Cam changed to become a captain and the team won 12 games due to his coming of age, why would people come at me for saying that Cam needed to grow?  I do not understand that brand of logic. Yes, I get irritated when people attack me and not my points, so I deal it back.  That is what irritates people.

Because there is no new cam what don't you understand? He's the same dude the exact same cam we drafted #1 overall you talk about it like he had to rebuild himself from the ground up and he didn't. Every rookie qb is different has different things to work on for cam it was LEARNING how to be a leader and LEARNING how to be the face of the franchise

So he has not changed or grown since he was drafted?  I say he has.  Your point?

Just for reference, I'm gonna put a link to those interviews here.

Greg Olsen interview. The comments about Cam begin at around the 5 minute mark.

Deangelo Williams interview is also online but I could only find audio. The comments about Cam begin at around the 24:25 mark.

You get what you give. Try toning it down a few, and maybe you can participate in more civil conversations. Or not. Like Hardy staying a Panther. It is all up to you.

What exactly did I give you?  You threw your hat in the ring, criticizing my manner of expressing an opinion and the fact that I wrote sentence (when I meant statement).  That is petty and told me all I need to know about you.  Your intent is to provoke. After your last 2 posts, when I was never addressing you at all, I would not try to convince anyone you know what Civil means.

And yes, it is all up to me.  So take your sarcastic trolling advice and give it to someone who thinks you are qualified to give it.

there are a couple things wrong with this logic.

1. you are dealing with fooball, entertainment and fans and just some academia. This forum has different kinds of posters. We have people like SCP and KJ89 who are diehard Panther fans and just that. And we have folks like Teeray and Marguide who are more analytical. It's what makes this place great because there is a balance.

2. the widely held views about Cam are not what is popular on this forum (people will tend to group you in with those people, some will scream racism, and some will scream old-school mentality). I agree with some of that too a certain extent based on context. I don't think that fits you. Although i get what you are saying that you oppose the views on here that are popular.

3. On the one hand you are right in that he showed growth, but you are leaving out the stout defense he hasn't had the past two seasons and what KIND of growth Cam had. You look at intangibles he just somehow got out of thin air. Most here believe he already had them from day 1 (as evident by his college championships, and the way he transformed our offense even if it didn't result in wins). Many here think that growth or change was in football acumen. The term "growth" is what is being debated here. And what his teammates have stated to the media.

4. People that attack you are just fed up with the media narrative and they lump you into that group. Most have believed Cam has had those intangibles since Day 1 (as the link to the Greg Olsen video has shown) and defend Cam because of all the shitstorm that happened to him when he came into the league. People don't want to take the time to post what they deem as obvious. So they resort to personal attacks for pie and for convenience and laughter.

you are not a dummy but IMO i think you miss the mark on how that term "growth" is applicable to Cam.

"There is no truth."

Lol, that's awfully philosophical for a guy that critisized a poster for taking the Lord's name in vain.

Can you stop your mental masturbation, now?

Wow. You missed the point completely and took it totally out of context.  I am not surprised after reading your last statement.  Did you think that up on your own?

Well, we can disagree on Cam.  I see tremendous growth and I am happy about it.

This is not academia, but this is a place where people should share opinions intelligently.

Take Care Rum.  We agree 95% of the time, which should scare you, so this is no biggie.

Well, I guess constructive critsism is lost in translation. Was trying to give you insight as to why folks are "Attacking" you. But, you are in such a defensive mode, it was lost on you.

As you have so politely called me a troll, I will add this little tidbit. You sound like my sister. Very good at dishing it out. No so much at taking it.

So in that vein. Carry on.

That could be it. I was --repeat, was---not high on him because I thought he folded in the fourth quarter.  He did.  My criticism of Cam was based on a few things--all based on his potential to be one of the greatest qbs ever to play the game.

He needed to be more of a leader and understand that role--while his teammates say that was overblown, Cam said that his father and brother talked to him about it and he watched tape and did not like what he saw.  I was thankful to hear that because it made me realize he needed to grow.

Cam needed to understand that winning was the best way to get respect, not self-promotion.  It is difficult to watch a QB pretend he is super man when the team is 2-8.

I am so pleased that these things are no longer issues.  Cam has matured in a football and leader way, and that is great.  I have seen enough to pay the man a franchise QB salary.  The longer the contract the better.  However, Cam needs to work on some things--his accuracy and touch on deep balls are 2 things that hurt us this season.

Do I apologize to anyone for any criticisms of Cam last year and even at the beginning of this season?  NO.  He fixed what I was complaining about, for the most part.  I think people who were singing his praises before he changed should feel stupid.  I guess I coached too long to celebrate potential with undying worship.

For Cam to be great, he does not need to lead the league statistically. Russell Wilson doesn't.  Cam has a stout defense and is about to be given a stout Offense to navigate.

Everyone has a buy-in point, and I was not satisfied that Cam deserved the accolades until I saw him close out games and become a true leader.  He earned the C this season and we won games decided in the 4th quarter.  That is when I bought in.  If others bought in sooner, good for you.  I don't play fantasy football, so maybe that is the difference.

You guys that sit around and psycho analyze like you are doctor phil get to me. Either be a fan or go root for someone else. I cheered for the team even when Clausen and the crappy team played. Cam is a great athlete and people just need some patience. People who expect perfection after a few years in the league need to chill. He is just a young man, give him a break. I think the guy is great and am willing to be patient and let him develop.

I blocked Red, but cannot help but see his attempt to jump in.  This is a chance for him to showcase his skill.

To answer his question:

Players are not going to make a negative statement to the media.  So if you think they are honest when asked about a teammate with a microphone in front of them, then that is on you.

Did Cam get a "C" during his second season?  That is more of a statement.  You know it too, but don't want to admit it.  You would rather take press conference questions at face value.

Cam got the "C" his third season, and he earned it.  That suggests that something changed.  Teams know the QB should be a captain.  Not giving him one was as big a statement as giving him one was.  That alone tells me he changed, and if you ever spent any time in a locker room you would get that.

WHen I was in college, they told us what we could and could not say to reporters. That does not make Olsen a liar, it makes him a teammate.

Or you could beleive every word he tells a reporter and mock others who contradict that.

    • I think we pick it up and then someone else ends up emerging as the QB next year and we end up cutting him in year 5 and eating it.  That would be the most on brand thing to happen.
    • Evero has his faults, but even in that loss, the team only gave up 20 points. Your post gets to the heart of the matter. We are not a talented team on defense at this time. Some of our younger guys may develop w/more playing time, but for now we have no impact players at LB or EDGE. We could really use a ball-hawking S on the back end as well. We have exactly two players that have to be accounted for on every play, D. Brown, and J.Horn. Mike Jackson has been solid. The other starters would probably be backups on most the upper echelon NFL teams. We really can't expect this team to a Top 10 defense with such a lack of talent. All things considered I've been somewhat impressed with how much better they have played this year.   https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-points-per-game   https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-average-team-passer-rating We are in the top 15 in terms of points allowed per game (22.6) and top 12 in defensive passer rating (88.9). And, we are doing this without a formidable PASS RUSH. Even our rushing defense has improved. We are #16 in rushing yards allowed per game (116) compared to 179 per game last season. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-rushing-yards-per-game I wouldn't cry if Evero moved on after the season, but his defense isn't the biggest worry for our team.
