This could be huge for North Carolina in general for possibly landing an MLS team.

 

I would prefer to see Man U play being a Red Devils fan since I was 15 but I'm going to go just to see all the guys (Kolo Toure, Stevie G, Agger, Leiva, Sturridge, Suarez, Aguero, Dzeko, Nasri, Yaya Toure, Villa, etc)...

 

It should be a great event, hopefully Charlotte shows out.

 

And for those that don't care... event committees like the Final Four and Super Bowl look at how cities perform during similar events... so if you want a Super Bowl in Charlotte in the future, I wouldn't be complaining about a soccer match.

People said the same thing about Indianapolis. 

 

Trust me, I've actually taken a Sports Event and Facilities class, I know these things... If Charlotte can showcase the city in a manner similar to the Super Bowl (The X Games would have been ideal), the Super Bowl committee will take notice if the city is persistent in trying to get the game to Charlotte. However, that also includes building the necessary amenities (extra hotels, restaurants, bars, tourists attractions) to make the city hospitable for a Super Bowl.

 

The stadium upgrades will also help as well. However stadiums like Levi's stadium, the new Vikings Stadium, and the new Falcons stadium will have precedence over Charlotte due to the overall newness and freshness of those stadiums (see MetLife: built in 2010 (newest stadium in the NFL). However, don't be surprised if you see Charlotte thrown in with some of those other cities once the full renovation is complete.

 

The Man City/Liverpool game will definitely help in showcasing Charlotte because you will get people to drive down from D.C. and Virginia plus people to drive up from South Carolina and Georgia to see the game. Not to mention that the RDU area (which is one of the best area's for youth soccer) will likely fill half of the stadium.

 

The point is that for anyone to right this game off as "stupid" is super misinformed or just doesn't understand about the concept of Sporting Events and how they help a community (see Indianapolis when they were able to host the Super Bowl).

That's fine, you probably studied to be a computer engineer or something of that sorts as where I chose (am choosing) to pursue a career in sports (and that class I mentioned happened to be a class that is required). Not only that, but it was a very helpful class. I'm guessing you haven't had the opportunity to get a back ground tour of the Verizon Center (home of the Capital's, Wizards, and Hoyas), tour Camden Yards (home of the Orioles), or get a back ground tour of M&T Bank Stadium (home of the Ravens). All perks of that class...

 

I just figured I'd give you some background info on what I know, so you can understand that I'm not one of those posters that posts rumors or ideas that they try to make seem like rumors.

I received my MBA from Charlotte.

I've seen games at Bank of America Stadium (Panthers), Charlotte Coliseum (Hornets), & TWC Arena (Bobcats), Turner Field (Braves), Nationals Park (Nationals), Camden Yards (Orioles), Citizens Bank Park (Phillies), New Yankee Stadium (Yankees), Rogers Centre (Blue Jays), Jacob's Field (Indians), & AT&T Park (Giants).

I toured the Dean E Smith Center while at Roy Williams' basketball camp, New Yankee Stadium with my girlfriend while on vacation, & AT&T Park while visiting a friend who plays for the Giants.

What the fug is your point?

Walking around stadiums has absolutely nothing to do with the Super Bowl. The NFL has already stated numerous times that Charlotte does not have the resources to host a Super Bowl.

Neither does your choice of wasting time in college for a career path with little to no job opportunities.

Again, what is your point?

      We have seen Bryce get outplayed by all manner of QBs, from UDFAs to second round picks.  If we actually scouted any QBs it would not be a difficult task to upgrade from Bryce, you guys act like he is even decent. He is one of the worst starters league wide stop making excuses.

      if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying

      So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
